The Chinese manufacturer ZTE could be working on the development of a curved smartphone, following the market trends of recent months. Specifically, we must mention the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, which has been one of the most successful terminals in 2016 and stands out precisely for its design and curved screen.
The rumors have been spread by a rather suspicious photograph that the ZTE marketing director has published on his profile on the Chinese social network Weibo.
Will we soon see a curved smartphone from the ZTE brand?
2017 may be the year when a terminal from the Chinese manufacturer ZTE with a curved screen will finally be released. For years there have been rumors about the possible incorporation of this design element, and at the time it was said that the ZTE Nubia Z9 terminal would have a curved screen, imitating the style of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Shortly afterwards it was thought that perhaps the Nubia Z11 would be the definitive model, but the brand's launches in recent months denied that possibility.
Do not forget that the latest flagship terminal of the company, the ZTE Axon 7, does not have a curved screen. Nor do the new Nubia models, which the company wants to market as a second brand (separately from ZTE), do not have curved screen edges.
However, just beginning the year 2017, rumors have arisen again that ZTE is really working on the development of a terminal with a screen of these characteristics and that it could go on sale throughout this year. It is not known if it could be the new flagship terminal of the brand (the successor to the ZTE Axon 7) or a new model of the Nubia brand.
In any case, if we take into account how the market for high-end smartphones has evolved in 2016 and consider the success of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, it is very likely that the rumors will end up being confirmed this time. Many users value the detail of the design, not only for an aesthetic question of the phone, but for the positive effect that the curved screen has on the images and graphics: the transition at the edges of the screen is much more pleasant (the phone “ it doesn't end suddenly ”) and those sides can be used to introduce smart direct access bars, as Samsung has done in its terminals.
In addition, users of the Chinese social network Weibo have become suspicious when Lu Qian Hao, director of marketing at ZTE, shared on his profile a post to congratulate the new year, wishing that 2017 was a year "without limits" and accompanying the text from an image that does not leave much to the imagination: the side of a smartphone with curved edges and a ZTE application icon is perfectly visible. It is probably one of the first prototypes of the phone that they have kept secret until now and that will be released in 2017.
Will this smartphone be the new ZTE Axon 8 (or its equivalent, although we don't know the name yet? Or maybe the new flagship terminal of the Nubia brand ?
