ZTE, the Chinese technology manufacturer, has reached 5.7% of the market share in Spain in the mobile phone sector. At the moment it remains the leading brand in the cheapest mobiles (the range from 0 to 100 euros).
Good figures for ZTE, but its position is in danger
The market figures for ZTE in Spain reached good percentages in October 2017. The Chinese brand ranks sixth among smartphone manufacturers in our country, with 5.7% of the market share.
The best position is the one it reaches in the entry mobile band: in terminals between 0 and 100 euros, ZTE is the leading brand in Spain.
Regarding sales through retail and mobile operators, the figures vary. For example, ZTE is the third brand in Yoigo and ranks fourth in Vodafone. In retail, it reaches 6.7% market share.
Broadly speaking, there is no doubt that they are quite good numbers, but things will get difficult in 2018. Xiaomi's arrival in Spain is going to unleash a war in the sector of moderately priced Chinese terminals.
In fact, Xiaomi will bet heavily on the sectors where ZTE has the most weight: the low and mid-range terminals.
What ZTE mobiles are conquering the Spanish market?
The brand has a long list of smartphone models for sale in Spain. As we have already mentioned, the majority are aimed at an audience looking for entry-level phones, with basic features.
Nor should we ignore the significant percentage of customers looking for mid-range terminals at a moderate price and who take advantage of the offers offered by mobile operators.
Below we review the main ZTE phones that we can currently buy in our country. Its new terminal with double folding screen, the ZTE Axon M, will arrive in Spain in 2018.
ZTE Blade A6
The ZTE Blade A6 smartphone can be obtained for 180 euros and offers good performance as a mid-range terminal.
It is a phone with 16 GB of internal storage and a 13-inch main camera. The highlight, however, is the battery: with 5,000 mAh capacity, it has become one of the phones with the best autonomy rates so far.
The downside, however, is at the performance level: the mobile has only 2 GB of RAM.
In addition to the main model, ZTE has released the Blade A6 Lite (with more basic features) and Blade A6 Premium (with 3 GB of RAM and sold through The Phone House chain of stores).
ZTE Blade V8
For its part, the Blade V8 phone was the first from the company to incorporate a dual main camera. The terminal comes standard with Android 7 Nougat and includes a virtual reality glasses in the box. It costs 270 euros.
The ZTE Blade V8 has 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a dual head camera 13 + 2 megapixels. In addition, the secondary camera is not short: we can take selfies with a 13 megapixel lens.
As with the Blade A6, with this model ZTE has also launched other cheaper models with simpler features: the Blade V8 Mini and the Blade V8 Lite.
ZTE Axon 7
The ZTE Axon 7 is, so far, its main high-end terminal. It was launched as one more competitor for flagship smartphones of brands like Huawei and Honor, and it has very good features.
The ZTE Axon 7 mobile has a 5.5-inch screen and 2K resolution, a 20-megapixel main camera and 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. The RAM memory is not short either: there is a version with 4 GB and another with 6 GB.
In addition, its star feature is the high definition sound with the double Hi-Fi speaker located on the front.
The terminal costs 450 euros, although there is a more basic model (ZTE Axon 7 Mini) for 300 euros.
