The Chinese company ZTE has just confirmed that one of its mid-range terminals launched in 2016, the ZTE Axon 7, is guaranteed to be updated to Android 8 Oreo. The confirmation has occurred in an unofficial forum of the brand, in a post published by a spokesperson for the company itself. The post goes like this:
There is no exact or approximate date yet on when ZTE Axon 7 customers will receive the update to the latest version of the Android operating system on their phones. However, the simple fact that ZTE is aware of its mid-range terminals is cause for joy. Especially for users of that phone who were still wondering if, in the end, they would update their terminals.
What did users find in a terminal like the ZTE Axon 7?
As we said before, the ZTE Axon 7 was a terminal that made an appearance back in 2016, in June. It is a mid-range terminal although it was surprising for having 1,440 x 2,560 resolution on a 5.5-inch screen. Regarding its interior, we have a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Its main camera has 20 megapixels, 1.8 focal aperture, phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilizer, dual dual-tone LED flash… And its selfie camera has 8 megapixels and a 2.2 focal aperture.
When it appeared on sale, this terminal ran under the Android 6 Marshmallow operating system, had a 3,250mAh battery with fast charge via USB Type C connection, as well as a fingerprint sensor, NFC connection for mobile payments. A terminal that, right now, and knowing that its update to Android 8 Oreo is guaranteed, could be a good purchase option.
In the Amazon store we can get the ZTE Axon 7 at a price of 350 euros.
What will users of the ZTE Axon 7 with Android 8 Oreo have?
These are, among many others, some of the best features that you can enjoy with Android 8 Oreo:
Picture in Picture (PiP): How cool would it be to be able to get out of Google Maps and what next is a floating window popping up with the desired route? Or a YouTube video, which continues to play, in a small window, while we consult other data, or send messages through WhatsApp? Well, that's what Android 8 Oreo incorporates: it all depends, anyway, on the applications and their compatibility with this system.
Notification channels: now, we can deactivate and activate the notifications of any section within the same app, without having to enter that app.
Adaptive icons: all the icons of the applications that are compatible with Android 8 Oreo will have the same shape, thus homogenizing the aesthetics of the operating system.
Notification point in icons: if you have a pending issue, the icon of the application in question will remind you with a dot on it.
Smart text selector: imagine that you copy a phone number to later make a call to that number. With Android 8 Oreo, the phone number will be automatically pasted when you open the application.
