Display and layout
The ZTE Blade S6's screen measures 5 inches diagonally, which is a large size for a good viewing experience, but not large enough to impede one-handed operation. The panel is an in-cell Touch, which means that the layers are integrated, achieving a finer piece and less shine on its surface. Develops 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution and concentrated 293 dots per inch, ensuring sharp images.
The design of the ZTE Blade S6 is inevitably reminiscent of that of the iPhone 6, with the front panel covered in glass and the back cover covering the edges with a gentle curve. However, in this case the chosen material might not be metal, but plastic. This data has not been confirmed or denied by ZTE, but considering that it will go on sale in the United States for $ 250 and that they have not highlighted it, everything indicates that the ZTE Blade S6 has to settle for plastic with a metallic finish. It has quite tight dimensions, especially the width, and it is also very thin(7.7 millimeters), what has not been confirmed is the weight. The ZTE Blade S6 will hit stores in silver and pink.
Camera and multimedia
The camera is one of the strong points of the ZTE Blade S6, which integrates a sensor signed by Sony with 13 megapixels of resolution. It is a backlit sensor, a technology that reduces the layers between the lens and the photosensitive part, taking advantage of more light and giving better results in dark environments. It also supports FullHD video recording with HDR effect, a feature that is usually reserved for photos. It also has an LED flash, automatic focus and professional mode, which allows you to control some parameters of the shot. It includes other functions such asburst shooting, face detector, panoramic photos, image editor or geo-tagging. The front camera has 5 megapixels, but be careful with taking very close selfies since its focus is fixed.
The ZTE Blade S6 offers the basic multimedia features, such as the player compatible with the most common formats, the FM radio tuner or the dictation and voice recording system. ZTE wanted its new smartphone to sound good and equipped it with a HiFi sound system, albeit with the limitations of a mobile device.
Power and memory
The processor is one of the strengths of the ZTE Blade S6, which relies on a Qualcomm chip, specifically the Snapdragon 615. It belongs to the new generation of 64-bit processors and also has eight cores with Cortex A53 architecture . They are grouped into four cores at 1.5 Ghz and four cores at 1 Ghz, which alternate depending on the amount of power required at all times. It is accompanied by an Adreno 405 graphics processor and 2 Gb of RAM.
Speaking of memory, the ZTE Blade S6 integrates a 16 Gb background to store all kinds of files. However, the system and applications take up space, so there will be around 12Gb available. If we fall short we can always dip into a MicroSD memory card.
Operating system and applications
Google released Android 5.0 Lollipop in October last year, but phones that have the previous version are still being released. This is not the case with the ZTE Blade S6, which will come standard with all the news of the latest version of the platform. The interface has a clearer design, with intuitive animations and more synthetic icons. Notifications are also improved, which can now be read or dismissed from the lock screen, and it carries several security features included in the Smart Lock package .
Includes all native Google applications such as YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, Google Calendar or Google Drive. ZTE also adds its MiFavor 3.0 interface and some special functions. The terminal allows you to activate different functions with gestures, such as the flashlight, the mirror application or the camera's burst shooting.
Connectivity and autonomy
The ZTE Blade S6 not only has a fast processor, its mobile connection is too. It allows access to the Internet through 4G networks, although it is also compatible with 3G and WiFi. It can also become a small pocket modem and share the connection with other computers, either via cable, Bluetooth or by creating a WiFi zone. The GPS antenna, the Bluetooth wireless port, the headphone jack and the MicroUSB port could not be missing. It also allows inserting two nanoSIM cards to carry two phone lines without changing mobile.
The ZTE Blade S6 integrates a 2,400 milliamp capacity battery, an adequate figure for its technical level. However, ZTE has not offered data on its autonomy, which we can anticipate will be around a full day if we give it intensive use and two days with more moderate use, which is usual in most mobile phones.
Availability and opinions
As we have already anticipated at the beginning, the ZTE Blade S6 will hit the market next February, but in Spain we would have to wait a little longer, until the end of April or the beginning of May. It will cost 270 euros in free format.
The ZTE Blade S6 is an interesting proposal for those looking for an affordable mobile without sacrificing quality features. This model has a Sony sensor and its processor is Qualcomm, differentiating itself from the vast majority of mobile phones from Chinese manufacturers, which usually carry lower quality sensors and Mediatek processors. It is also noted somewhat with in-cell touch screen of 5 inches and the latest version of Android, also accompanied by some special functions.
