Display and layout

As we have already told you in the entry, the ZTE Blade A450 bets on a fairly wide screen, with which we can see the content clearly and handle it comfortably. The panel measures 5 inches diagonally but, while the size is close to the leading phones in the Android panorama, details such as the resolution or the TFT technology of its screen remind us that we are facing an entry-level mobile. The developed panel 854 x 480 pixels, equivalent to the standard FWVGA and gets concentrate 196 dots per inch.The decrease in its sharpness will be evident when compared with a FullHD or QHD mobile, but despite this it is a figure that will allow us to see images with an acceptable level of detail.

ZTE goes for a fairly classic design, with a rather bland rounded corner bar shape. The only detail item distinguishes it from other similar equipment are the Android navigation buttons. They are located off the screen and the home button is a circle in blue tone, while the back controls and Android menu are two small dots. If we look at it from behind, the camera is also surrounded by the same blue circle, creating a kind of identity mark. As the battery is so spacious, we cannot expect a very thin chassis, but the ZTE Blade A450 increases its thickness to 10.2 millimeters, making the weight rise to167 grams. It will go on sale in the classic colors: black and white.

Camera and multimedia

The main camera has a sensor 5 - megapixel resolution, which will allow us to capture images of 2,592 x 1,944 pixels - a size large enough to print and to view them on a much larger screen. It has an LED flash, a piece that will be necessary when taking pictures in low light, but be careful not to separate ourselves from the object to be photographed, or the light from the flash would not illuminate it correctly. The rear camera has autofocus and records videos, but it does settle for HD720p videos. The functions included are the usual ones: face detector, geo-tagging, panoramic photos and image editor among others. Thefront camera, located on the screen, is designed so that we can take selfies or make video calls, but in this case its resolution remains at 2 megapixels. As indicated ZTE in the data sheet of this model, the ZTE Blade A450 can interpolate resolution by software, increasing the resolution of the main sensor 8 megapixels and 5 megapixels to the secondary sensor.

The ZTE Blade A450 carries the multimedia functions that we can ask from a mobile of its category. It is compatible with the most common formats and codecs, which its integrated player will be able to open without problems. It also has an FM radio tuner, allows you to record voice memos and dictate messages.

Power, memory and operating system

The processor is another element that reminds us that the ZTE Blade A450 is a simple and inexpensive device. How could it be otherwise, the chip in question is a Mediatek, a common brand in low and mid-range equipment. Specifically, it is an MT6732M, consisting of four cores that work at 1.3 Ghz clock speed. The processor is a MaliT760 MP and is supported by 1 Gb of RAM. As we said, a tight configuration, typical of a mobile in its range. Speaking of memory, the ZTE Blade A450 offers us a background of 8 Gb, of which we will have around 4.5 Gb freeto store apps, photos and other data. In addition, it is complemented by a slot for MicroSD memory cards, which may have an additional 32 GB at most.

The operating system of the ZTE Blade A450 is Android, but not in its latest version. The team comes standard with Android 4.4 KitKat and there is still no clue about a possible update in the future. KitKat version 4.4 has many updated features, but it lacks the interface redesign and other tools such as lock screen notifications. All in all, the system offers practically the same features, including the entire suite of applications and services proposed by Google and comes with titles such as YouTube, Gmail. Google Calendar, Keep, Google Drive or Google Maps. In addition, it allows you to download many more applications from the Google Play store, that already has more than a million and a half contents.

Connectivity and autonomy

We have already advanced it at the entrance. Despite its simplicity, the ZTE Blade A450 connects to 4G mobile networks, which allow you to enjoy a download speed of up to 150 Mbps, compared to the 42 Mbps of the HSPA (3G) standard, with which it is also compatible by the way.. It could not miss the WiFi wireless port, and it also offers the option of creating a WiFi zone to connect other devices. It comes with Bluetooth, GPS antenna to use map apps, MicroUSB connector and headphone jack.

We come to the last point of the analysis, but in this case the most important. The ZTE Blade A450 has a very simple technical profile, but its battery is typical of a phablet. The capacity is 3,400 milliamps, more than enough to power all equipment components for 10 hours of conversation. The resting time can be extended to 500 hours, or what is the same, 20 days.

Availability and opinions

ZTE and Jazztel are about to start the promotion of the ZTE Blade A450, and they will do so with a bus that will run through several Catalan cities starting next April 20. In it, the details to acquire them will be revealed, including the available rates. The Blade A450 is an entry-level mobile that bets everything on autonomy. ZTE sacrifices aspects such as the thinness or the resolution of the panel to offer us a simple mobile with an autonomy worthy of mention.Most manufacturers are going in the opposite direction, thinning their equipment, but in this way the batteries are reduced and therefore the autonomy is not so long.
