Very soon Xiaomi users will be able to use an application drawer in MIUI, the company's customization layer. This characteristic, typical of LG, Samsung or Sony phones, allows you to have a better organized desktop. Basically, the desktop icons disappear and appear in the drawer, being able to move them or interact with the shortcuts by pressing and holding one of them. This new option has been seen in one of the alpha versions of MIUI, specifically in 4.10.6.1025-06141703.
As can be seen in the filtered captures, a new section appears through the settings section, which allows us to choose the type of desktop. Once this option has been activated, a central button is displayed at the bottom of the panel, which gives the possibility of opening the application drawer. Of course, it does not seem that it can be done by sliding your finger from the bottom, as allowed by the Google Pixels.
As soon as we want to close the drawer, we have to click on the back button of the system (making the corresponding gesture), or click on the arrow icon located at the top of the screen. For now, the only way to test this launcher is to install the APK on a Xiaomi device. However, the option still appears in Chinese, something that will be fixed once the stable version arrives.
We recommend you wait a bit, but if you have a spare Xiaomi phone lying around and want to see how this new app drawer works, feel free to try it. Of course, keep in mind that being an Alpha version it will give enough bugs. If you still want to continue with the installation, you can download the MIUI launcher from this link. To activate it you have to:
- Press and hold your finger in a free area of the desktop.
- Select the Settings section.
- Click on More.
- Select the option that appears in Chinese.
- Click on the second option.
If you want this feature, but don't dare to install the alpha version, we recommend that you use the Poco Launcher, which is integrated into MIUI. In addition, the Poco Launcher can be installed on any phone, while the MIUI only works on Xiaomi mobiles.
