Today, the Google Camera application, better known as Gcam, is only compatible with mobile phones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. For this reason, mobile phones from Huawei, Honor, and ultimately, all brands that do not have a processor from the North American firm, are not compatible with Google Cam… At least until today. Recently Celso Azevedo, one of the best known developers in the Android scene, has published a version of Google Camera compatible with most Android phones, including Honor and Huawei phones.

Being based on the homologous version present in Android 10 for the Google Pixel, the news that we can find in this new version is based on the possibility of zooming in night mode and the implementation of several options that allow us to play with the selfie and its quality. The aesthetics of the application is renewed compared to previous iterations, and includes an intelligent mode that suggests tips to obtain better photographs based on the context of the image
Finally, Google Camera 7.0 includes two resolution modes (full and half) to optimize the storage space available on the smartphone.

It is not the first time that we have seen such an achievement. Previously, the same developer made the Google Camera application compatible with Huawei phones with Kirin 980 processors. After the publication of the seventh iteration of the application, GCam opens the ban on all mobile phones of the Chinese brand… Or almost all.
As the developer himself announces on his official website, one of the essential requirements to enjoy the application on Android is based on having a phone that is compatible with the Camera2 API. To verify that, indeed, our mobile is compatible with said library, we can resort to applications such as Camera2 API Probe, which we can download from the Play Store itself.

Once we have made sure that our Honor or Huawei mobile is compatible, we can proceed to the installation of the application through this link. Since the APK file comes from sources outside of the official Google store, we will have to activate the Install applications from unknown sources box in the Security section in Settings.
Finally we will proceed to its installation as if it were a common application. After this, we will grant you the appropriate permissions and we will be able to use the application in almost all its splendor.

Not all that glitters is gold, and less if we talk about the Kirin processor, models, a priori, not compatible with the Google camera.
First of all, the take photos feature will not work by default. Nor can we use the night mode or any of the modes associated with image capture.
What does work, and quite smoothly, is video recording, even through the front camera. Through the application options we can change both the quality and the resolution of the same.
In any case, it is expected that updates will be released constantly to fix the errors associated with the image capture.
