Xiaomi has just announced two new devices in India, the Xiaomi Y1 and Y1 Lite. Although they do not reach the high range, the new models stand out for their camera for selfies. They offer a 16 megapixel front sensor with an LED light for capturing selfies in the dark. Both are quite similar and only differ in the processor, RAM and internal storage capacity. They offer an identical design, although the Lite is a bit lighter. They will go on sale on November 8 in gold or gray.

A design very much in the line of Xiaomi
The new Xiaomi Y1 and Y1 Lite follow the line of other models of the company. In the back we see that a metallic chassis has been used, something that gives them an elegant appearance. There is no missing fingerprint reader just below the main camera. If we turn them over, we see glass and plastic in white or black, depending on whether we choose between the gold or gray color of the back cover. The buttons are tactile and their edges slightly rounded. We are not facing too heavy telephones. The Xiaomi Y1 weighs 153 grams. This model has measures of 153 x 76.2 x 7.7 millimeters. We do not know those of the Y1 Lite, but we do know that it weighs a little more, its weight rises to 153 grams (3 grams more than the standard version).
Both the Xiaomi Y1 and the Xiaomi Y1 Lite have a 5.5-inch screen with an HD resolution (1280 x 720). Its panels are protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass system, which protects them from bumps and scratches.
Different power and memory
The main differences between the Y1 and the Y1 Lite are found precisely in the processor and memory. The Xiaomi Y1 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, an eight-core 1.4 GHz. It also comes with 3 or 4 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 32 or 64 GB (expandable). For its part, the Y1 Lite houses inside a Snapdragon 425 with four cores and 2 GB of RAM. Its space is only 16 GB, although it can also be expanded using microSD-type cards.
The best: its camera for selfies
In recent times we see more and more models with high resolution front cameras. Xiaomi has wanted its new Y1 to stand out in this section and has equipped them with a 16-megapixel front sensor with an f / 2.0 aperture. The best thing is that, despite not having a flash, they have an LED light that will allow better quality captures in dark environments. Also, the main camera is 13 megapixels. It has image stabilization and flash. For the rest, both the Xiaomi Y1 and the Y1 Lite equip a 3,080 mAh battery and will land with Android 7.1.2 Nougat along with the MIUI 9 (beta) customization layer.
Price and availability
The new Xiaomi terminals will be available to buy from November 8 at 12 noon. They will be sold exclusively on Amazon at prices starting at 95 euros for the reduced version and 120 euros for the standard model.
