Today the new Xiaomi Redmi 7 has been presented in China, as planned by the brand. It comes with a design that mimics the body of its two older brothers, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The differences with these stem from the internal characteristics, the camera and of course, the screen. As expected, the price has also been significantly reduced compared to that of the aforementioned brand devices. Will it be enough to conquer the low-end of 2019? We see it below.

Design that reminds us of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
Xiaomi has decided to implement the same design in its medium and low ranges. The Xiaomi Redmi 7, like the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, has a unibody design made of glass with plastic frames and a really contained thickness of only 8.47 millimeters. We must bear in mind that we are facing a 4,000 mAh battery.
As for the rest of the design details, the terminal repeats the screen with a notch in the form of water. Same dimensions and technology as the rest of Redmi mobiles (6.26 inches and IPS LCD technology), the only differences are in the resolution, which in this case is HD +. Also the ratio of use of the surface is maintained, since the frames have a thickness similar to that of the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro.
For the rest, the Redmi 7 is traced to its older brothers. Fingerprint sensor on the back, double camera and colors with gradient tones (red, black and blue). It should be noted that it has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection both on the screen and on the back.
Lower power to reduce costs
The main differences of the Xiaomi Redmi 7 with respect to the rest of Xiaomi mid-range mobiles come from the processor.
The low-end of the company has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor along with the Adreno 506 GPU and 2, 3 and 4 GB of RAM. The storage versions, like the Xiaomi Redmi 6 of the last generation, start from 16 GB and go up to 64 through 32. It should be noted that these can be expanded by microSD cards up to 512 GB.
As for the rest of the Redmi 7, the terminal has a Bluetooth 5.0 connection, FM radio, infrared sensor and dual-band WiFi.
The double camera reaches the low range
Xiaomi has finally decided to integrate a double camera in its most economical model. Specifically, we find two sensors of 12 and 2 megapixels with focal aperture f / 2.2 and pixels of 1.25 um. We do not expect great results from these, especially due to the focal aperture of the main sensor and the resolution of the second. In this regard, the company puts everything at stake in the processing capacity of the Camera application.
And what about the front camera? Xiaomi has not given many details of this. The only thing we know is that it has 8 megapixels and predictably a focal aperture f / 2.2.
Great battery with a single but
If there is something that the Xiaomi Redmi 7 stands out for, it is its battery. 4,000 mAh that in combination with its low-power processor and the resolution of its screen, promises a theoretical autonomy superior to that of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro.
The negative point of this is that it does not have fast charging. It also does not have USB type C, but micro USB. We will have to see the total charge time in real tests with a battery of such a size, but everything indicates that it will exceed two hours.
Price and availability of the Xiaomi Redmi 7 in Spain
As is usual in the company, Xiaomi has not given any information about the availability of the terminal in Europe. What we do know are its prices in its three versions of RAM and ROM.
- Xiaomi Redmi 7 of 2 and 16 GB: 90 euros to change
- Xiaomi Redmi 7 of 3 and 32 GB: 105 euros to change
- Xiaomi Redmi 7 4 and 64 GB: 130 euros to change
