We had been rumored for a few days, but now it is official: the Chinese company Xiaomi has just officially presented its new Xiaomi Redmi 2. We are facing a renewed version of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S that is presented with slight differences among which we find the ultra-fast 4G LTE Internet connectivity, a slight improvement in the processor and a small reduction in the size of the terminal. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 will be available in the Asian market for a price of 110 dollars (about 90 euros), and at the moment it is unknown if its availability will be extended to the rest of the world.
The Xiaomi redmi 2 incorporates a screen of 4.7 inches to reach a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density in screen 312 ppi. We are in the same size and screen resolution that incorporating the Xiaomi redmi 1S, although there is a difference in the size of both terminals: the new redmi 2 incorporates measures 134 x 67.21 x 09.02 mm and a weight of 132 grams while the redmi 1S had dimensions of 137 x 69 x 9.9 mm and a weight of 158 grams.
Below the housing the Xiaomi redmi 2 we find a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 of four cores running at 1.2 GHz clock speed, a graphics processor Adreno 306, 1 gigabyte of RAM and 8 gigabytes of memory (expandable card microSD of up to 32 GigaBytes). The operating system corresponds to Android in its version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and the interface is complemented by the customization layer miui 6 of Xiaomi.
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 incorporates 4G LTE connectivity (up to 150 Mbps download speed through data rate) and a Dual-SIM slot. These features are complemented by a main camera of eight megapixels (sensor OmniVision, capable of recording video at 1,080 pixels resolution), a front camera of two megapixels and a battery with 2200 mAh capacity.
The first units of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 will begin to arrive in Chinese stores from January 9. This smartphone will be available in five different housing colors: white, black, green, yellow and pink. At the moment Xiaomi has not commented on the availability of the Redmi 2 in other parts of the world.
And on the other hand, let's not forget that on January 15 we will attend the presentation of Xiaomi's flagship, the new Xiaomi Mi5. In this case we speak of a smartphone high end of which is expected to incorporate a screen of between 5.5 and six inches with resolution Quad HD of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 / 810, between 3 and 4 gigabytes of RAM and the Android operating system in its latest version of Android 5.0 Lollipop.
