We could say that the mobiles that are currently on the market are impressive. Especially at the camera, screen and performance level. Flexible smartphones have not yet been put on sale, but it already allows us to see what the terminals could be like in the future. So do the patents issued by the different companies. Although they are products that we will hardly see on the market in the coming months, they do let us see what the terminals of the future could be like. This new patent published by Xiaomi shows a mobile with a solar panel on the back.
The truth is that the design of this mobile is not impressive compared to other concepts we have seen, such as this flexible mobile from LG. The images you have shown show a terminal with a full screen, without frames or holes in the upper and lower area. What is most striking is that on the back it has a solar panel that covers almost the entire body. We also see a double camera in the upper area. But… why a rear with a solar panel? The answer is simple, to load the terminal.
Charge the mobile through the solar panel
Xiaomi could have taken this idea from the different solar batteries that are currently on the market. The utility of these batteries is that they are charged by solar energy that is directed towards the panel. In this way we will not have to go through cable. Therefore, this terminal would allow us to charge the device through the solar panel. In this way we will always have a battery. Of course, the level of charge through solar energy is not as fast as that of a cable. In approximately 10 minutes of charging we get 2 minutes of talk time. In addition, although it seems easy to incorporate a solar panel, we must bear in mind that the terminal will not always give direct light. Yes, it is a very interesting way to respect the environment by avoiding charging by electricity, but it is a concept that might not work very well.
