This is the Xiaomi Mi 5s, Xiaomi's new flagship smartphone
The Xiaomi Mi 5s is a dual SIM slot smartphone with a 5.15-inch screen and Full HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels), which stands out against a very elegant metal design with rounded edges. The top glass panel is curved at the ends.
Inside we find the 64-bit Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor running at a speed of 2.15 GHz, along with an Adreno 530 GPU graphics card.
The power of the terminal is also supported by an important RAM memory to ensure a smooth performance of the phone: it will be 3 GB or 4 GB depending on the version of the Xiaomi Mi 5s. The available internal storage will also vary: 64 GB for the version with 3 GB of RAM, or 128 GB for the version with 4 GB of RAM.
As for the operating system, the mobile will come standard with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and with Xiaomi's own customization layer in its latest version: MIUI 8.
The phone will have DualSIM functions thanks to the capacity for two nanoSIM type cards.
The main smartphone rear camera is 12 megapixels with flash LED dual - tone, lens Sony IMX 378 1 / 2.3 and f / 2.0. The most interesting thing about this camera is the ability to record video in 4K resolution at 120 fps, in addition to the ability to record in slow motion (up to 720p).
Moreover, the front camera will be of 4 megapixels with wide angle lens 80 degrees and f / 2.0. This camera will be able to record video in 1080p (Full HD) quality.
Regarding the connections, the Xiaomi Mi 5s will be compatible with 4G connection, Blueetoth 4.2 and dual 802.11 ac WiFi. It will also incorporate NFC (Near Field Communications) technology for data transmission between smart devices without the need for physical contact. In addition, it will have a 3.5mm audio port (miniJack) for headphones and a USB Type-C port.
The battery is 3,200 mAh and will feature Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 technology to get much of the charge with little time of connection to a power source.
Finally, it is worth highlighting the interesting design with a metallic finish and rounded edges: Xiaomi bets on a terminal with a quite attractive aesthetic. The Xiaomi Mi 5s weighs 145 grams and measures 145.6 mm long x 70.3 mm wide x 8.25 mm thick. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is located on the rear.
Price and availability
The new Xiaomi Mi 5s will be sold in two different color combinations: dark gray with gold metal finish, and silver with rose gold and matte finish. Two different versions can be purchased:
- The model with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage will cost 300 dollars (about 266 euros).
- The model with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage will go on sale for $ 345 (about 306 euros).
The phone will be launched first in the Chinese market, where it will be available from September 29.
