The race to equip the new Qualcomm processor has begun. And everything seems to indicate that Xiaomi will be the first manufacturer to launch a terminal with the new Snapdragon 855. But no, it will not be a totally new terminal, it will be a new version of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. This was announced by the manufacturer himself at the China Partner Conference.
It is actually the 5G version of the Xioami Mi Mix 3 that we already know. The latest top of the range from the Chinese manufacturer has been updated with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. In addition, it also has the Snapdragon X50 modem, compatible with 5G mobile connections. If we combine these two with Xioami's intelligent antenna switching technology, we get a terminal capable of speeds of up to 2 Gbps.
During the fair, attendees will be able to test the 5G navigation of the new Xiaomi terminal. As the manufacturer commented in the presentation, 5G is a challenge in the design and transmission of mobile antennas. However, the Chinese company has been working with this technology for several years, doing extensive research.
Firm bet on 5G
Xiaomi has bet heavily on 5G technology. In early 2017 it officially launched the 5G mobile phone design. In September of this year, it was one of the first companies to open 5G signaling and data link connections.
On the other hand, the company will participate in the first tests to be carried out on the field. This will come just before the launch of the 5G network by China Mobile in Q1 2019.
Once the 5G network goes live in China, the company will provide a commercial version of the new terminal to China Mobile customers. This will happen in the third quarter of 2019. In addition, Xiaomi has ensured that the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 with Snapdragon 855 chip and 5G connectivity will also arrive in Europe.
In addition to the new terminal, Xiaomi wants to fully enter the connectivity of all kinds of devices. The company has announced that it will leverage the growth of the IoT (Internet of Things) to promote 5G connectivity in the smart home alongside China Mobile. It will also delve into the world of online gaming, virtual reality, 8K ultra high definition, 3D holographic video calling, 3D Augmented Reality, cloud game streaming services and other emerging technologies. It is clear that Xiaomi wants to touch all the sticks of the technology market.
