WhatsApp could soon join the mobile payment system with which a large number of companies sigh. Basically, judging by the latest rumors, the modality that would be proposed would not be a system of payments to use. Rather one that made it easier to make transfers between users. It would, therefore, be very similar to WeChat, which is having so much success in China. It is said that the first steps could be taken in India, a place where WhatsApp has up to 20 percent of users globally.
WhatsApp will allow you to send money
WABetaInfo has leaked the first screenshots of the integration of payments within WhatsApp. Not too many details are given. These first images only show the first brushstrokes of this process. We see an icon with the name of payments, but we do not yet know how everything would have to be configured to make them. The most sensible thing would be if we could add a bank account or credit card, but for now we will have to remain in doubt.
In any case, WhatsApp would not be the first service to offer transfers through its own application. We have some examples of apps that already allow this in BBVA Cashup, which landed last May. It can be integrated into WhatsApp, as well as other messaging services such as Messenger, Telegram, or Hangouts. However, to be able to use it, both the receiver and the issuer must be registered in the Bizum payment platform, then activating the option in the BBVA app.
For now, it is unknown when the WhatsApp payment system will reach the application. Nor do we know, in the event of a launch, if it will be staggered or globally. What is evident is that sooner or later it will end up breaking through, and we hope with innovative functionalities. This is important. WhatsApp currently has more than 1,300 million users, communicating with each other on a daily basis. Therefore, we are all looking forward to the application evolving, offering us more comforts. And not just through new features, but also through design changes.
