The Spanish company Weimei is back on the market with a new mobile device: the Weimei Neon, a smartphone at a very competitive price and with weOS operating system based on Android 6.0. Broadly speaking, it has good performance for a low-end phone, and it costs just 100 euros. Below we review its main characteristics.
Design and size
The Weimei Neon is available in four colors (yellow, black, blue, and red) and measures 144.5mm x 72mm x 9.8mm. It weighs 167 grams and has a screen 5 inches with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.
The colors give the Weimei Neon a fairly youthful look, which is also partly due to the choice of plastic material for the outer shell.
DualSIM and with double WhatsApp from the factory
The phone is DualSIM, so it allows managing two numbers from the same device. One of the most interesting features is that the Weimei Neon comes from the factory with the official WhatsApp application installed, and it also incorporates a WhatsApp clone also installed at the factory. Therefore, if you want to use the smartphone with two SIM cards and activate two different WhatsApp accounts (for example, one for personal use and one for work).
While the official position of the WhatsApp company continues to hold firm, without allowing multi-account use of the application, the problem has become a real headache for DualSIM phone users, designed precisely to simplify life by allowing contacts to be managed, calls, messages and others from two different numbers in the same terminal.
Although several clones for WhatsApp can be found on the Internet, the search takes an extra effort for the user, so the Weimei Neon offers a clear advantage in this regard by bringing two WhatsApp applications ready to use from the first moment.
Outstanding features
This smartphone uses the weOS operating system based on Android 6.0 and a Quad-Core Quad-Core ARM Cortex A53 1GHz 64-bit processor. The Weimei Neon has 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, expandable with an external microSD card of up to 128 GB.
The battery is probably its weak point: just 2300 mAh for a 5-inch smartphone, so the autonomy could leave a lot to be desired. On the other hand, as it is a fairly low resolution screen, energy consumption could be greatly reduced. The phone also incorporates an intelligent battery optimizer and extreme power saving mode.
And the cameras?
The main camera of the smartphone Weimei Neon is 5MP and the front camera is 2 megapixels. This is a fairly reasonable quality if we consider that the phone is mainly aimed at the low-end market and at a very competitive price: 100 euros.
The main camera offers quite a few special modes and functions, such as professional mode, facial beauty mode, filters, GIF mode, and night mode. For its part, the secondary camera for selfies incorporates a face detection mode.
