An interesting move to be carried out by the British-born operator Vodafone. With the unsuccessful experience of Vodafone 360 behind them, they have turned the strategy of downloadable applications towards alliances that help them to shorten the path to the user.
That is why from today the company launches a channel in Google's mobile application store, the Android Market. With a new tab, Vodafone customers will recognize this exclusive section where the operator will provide solutions of all kinds in the form of downloadable programs with which to make some of the tasks that can be performed from the smartphone easier.
The idea is for Vodafone to offer “news, sports, information and games” applications developed for the user to download in a free or paid formula, depending on the program in question, from its channel in Android Market. In principle, this new section in the Android Market for Vodafone customers begins to operate in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, with the view that it will soon also be launched in Greece, Ireland and Portugal. In total, they assure from Vodafone, around the world there are 75 million customers who could benefit from this new option.
Among the applications that have already been made available to Vodafone users in the exclusive Android Market channel, we find many that are also available in the common window of the Google store, such as Angry Birds Rio, The Sims 3 or Modern Combat 2, as well as exclusive content dedicated to the red operator, such as the Vodafone Music Shop music download store.
