And it is that the English operator has announced a few minutes ago that the first 5G network in the world is already operational in Spain. Specifically, in the center of Barcelona, coinciding with the celebration of this year's Mobile World Congress.

This has been confirmed by the company in a statement to the different specialized media. Although it is still in the testing phase, this implementation will serve to launch an entire commercial network of 5G networks throughout the peninsula. According to data provided by Vodafone, the download speed reached during the first connections has reached a staggering 1.7 Gbps, that is, about 170 MB / s.
The 5G network connection tests have been performed under the specifications of the 3GPP NSA standard with a few compatible smartphones (which ones have not been specified). During this same trial period, it has been possible to implement several services that until now were exclusive to 4G networks. Specifically, a video call on the commercial network between the cities of Madrid and Barcelona. A series of downloads was also made at the speed mentioned above.
