Until now, viruses had attacked people and computers. Who would have told us that one day it would be mobile phones that would suffer from these nasty digital diseases. Well, in the era of smart mobile phones, cybercriminals are the order of the day. The latest attack on record has occurred in China and is aimed at users of terminals with Android, one of the majority operating systems after Symbian. We are referring to a Trojan called Geinimi. Less cautious users are at risk.
As we said, the Geinimi Trojan has appeared in eastern territory. Specifically in China. It is known that it would be affecting only and exclusively the users of mobile phones with Android and that its ultimate purpose would be to obtain the personal data that may be stored on the device itself. In this way, criminals could access bank accounts of their victims, thus producing different scale theft. Lookout Mobile Security, a well-known antivirus company, has explained that the Trojan is capable of receiving commands from a remote server to control the phone.
And what is the real problem? Incidents like this occur when downloading content or applications from unofficial sites. In this case, the infected users are those who have downloaded files from a well-known Chinese website with successful applications. Users who download applications from the official Android Market are free of any problem. Do not forget that it is important to always access the applications that Google offers us directly to avoid these types of incidents. For now, no threat of similar characteristics has been detected in Europe.
