The front camera is being a real headache for manufacturers. Everyone wants to make the most of the front to put the more screen the better. But, as is logical, none dares to eliminate the front camera. More selfies are taken and published on social networks every day, so no one would buy a mobile without a front camera. However, it seems that Samsung could have a solution: a flexible screen.
This is the year of the notch. But let's face it, there are a lot of users who don't like it. That "island" in the middle of the top of the screen breaks the symmetry and doesn't look too good. Being aware of this rejection, some manufacturers have tried other methods. Xiaomi placed the front camera at the bottom of the terminal on the Mi MIX 2S. But this is not a good place either, as no one likes to have their double chin in selfies. Others like the Vivo Nex have invented a retractable camera that appears at the top of the terminal. But none of these solutions seem to convince Samsung.
Samsung has another idea for the front camera
Today we learned about a Samsung patent that could give us a clue on how the Korean manufacturer would fix the problem with the front camera. According to the description of the patent, the solution would be a flexible screen that would be stretched upwards and then folded over the back of the terminal.
According to the images, this screen would have no borders. That is, it would not be a dual screen system, but a screen that rotates at the top. In fact, the images show that the upper part would be used for notifications and music playback controls.
The patent images show that Samsung's idea with this flexible screen would be to dispense with the front camera. Thus, the rear camera would be used for both selfies and photography in general. Through the "rear screen" we could see each other when we were taking a selfie.
Although it sounds quite interesting, it may never see the light of day. Remember that manufacturers tend to patent hundreds of ideas a year and the vast majority stay just that, ideas.
