LG is one of the brands with the largest presence in the mid-range mobile market. Currently the manufacturer has in its catalog several series whose price ranges between 100 and 300 euros. Such is the number of smartphone models that coexist in its catalog that they can even confuse the user. For this reason we have made a compilation of all LG mid-range mobiles that you can buy today both in the official store and on third-party pages.
LG K Series: between 100 and 250 euros
LG's K series is widely known for models like the K40 or the K50. Just a few weeks ago the manufacturer renewed three of its star terminals: the LG K40, the LG K50 and the LG K60. The new generation is now called the K41s, K51s and K61. Even with everything, the company has decided to keep some mid-range models from 2019, such as the K50, the K50s, the K40S or the K30. Today we will focus on the first three, as they are models launched exclusively during 2020.
LG K41s, the evolution of the LG K40
The successor to the K40 comes with a 6.55-inch display with HD + resolution and military shock and drop resistance. It has an eight-core Mediatek processor, 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. Likewise, it is accompanied by a quartet of 13, 5 2 and 2 megapixel cameras on its rear with wide-angle and macro lenses and an 8 megapixel front camera.
For the rest, the phone uses a 4,000 mAh battery and the typical connection sheet in the mid-range: Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi, USB type C… All this for 160 euros, retail price.
LG K51s, going up a notch compared to the K41s
The K51s is a slightly improved version of the K41s. The screen now uses an IPS panel instead of one with TFT technology. The front design also improves, with much more space optimization achieved by the integration of an island-shaped notch.
Regarding the technical section of the K51s, the characteristics are very similar. The processor now goes from 2 to 2.3 GHz, while the internal storage doubles its capacity to 64 GB. The rest of the specifications are identical in practice: 4,000 mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band WiFi… As for the cameras, the only difference is found in the main sensor, which now goes from 13 to 32 megapixels, and the front camera, which goes from 8 to 13 megapixels. The price of this model is 200 euros.
LG K61, the most complete of the three
The most complete model of the three inherits the design of the K51s and brings substantial improvements, such as increasing the resolution of the screen to Full HD + or increasing the RAM and internal storage to 4 and 128 GB.
The rest of the improvements focus on improving the resolution of the cameras: from 32 to 48 megapixels in the main sensor, from 5 to 8 megapixels in the secondary sensor and from 13 to 16 megapixels in the front sensor. Its price is 250 euros.
LG Q Series: a single model per flag
In the current catalog of the Asian firm, LG maintains various models launched in 2018 and 2019. The company's most recent model is the LG Q60, a phone that was launched in mid-2019 while the rest of the models were launched in 2018 We are talking about phones like the LG Q6, the LG Q6 Alpha or the LG Q7.
LG Q60: the evolution of the legendary LG Q6
LG Q60
The terminal has a 6.26-inch screen with HD + resolution and IPS technology. It has a Mediatek Helio P22 processor , 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage along with a 3,500 mAh battery. Likewise, it integrates three cameras on the rear of 16, 5 and 2 megapixels, while the front uses a single 13 megapixel sensor. At Amazon, the phone is around 170 euros, something more economical we resort to third-party stores.
LG G Series: taking the quality / price equation to the next level
Although this range has historically been oriented to the low end, the South Korean manufacturer last year launched a smartphone halfway between the mid-range and the high-end of the brand. We are talking about the LG G8s ThinQ, a phone that takes many ideas from the LG G8 and is currently in stores for less than 400 euros. In fact, it is one of the most recommended options within this price range. The rest of the models
LG G8s ThinQ: the high-end made mid-range
As a high-end that it is, the phone has a 6.21-inch screen with OLED technology and Full HD + resolution. It also has a gesture system in the air thanks to the sensors present in the notch. As if this were not enough, it has a Snapdragon 855 processor along with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage up to 2 TB through micro SD cards.
In the cameras section, the terminal uses a very interesting configuration, with three sensors of 12, 13 and 12 megapixels with angular, wide-angle and telephoto lenses of 2 optical magnifications. On the front we find two cameras, one with 8 megapixels and the other with a ToF sensor to unlock the phone with greater security. The rest of the phone's specifications are not far behind: 3,550 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charge, wireless charging, DTS-X sound, IP68 protection, USB 3.0… Its price today is 390 euros in stores like Amazon. We must bear in mind that the official sale price of this phone is 700 euros, so we will get a discount of almost 50%.
