The new version of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 10, will be available from tomorrow, September 1, 3 at 7:00 p.m., Spanish time. We have already been testing the beta of the operating system so we are going to tell you all the news that you will find tomorrow in it when you install it on your iPhone or iPad.
First to free up space
Before installing the new version of iOS we recommend -especially if you have a 16 GB iPhone- that you free up space by eliminating applications that you do not use. The update weighs 1.8 GB and if we are very tight on space it is likely that it will not allow us to download it.
Once we have downloaded and installed iOS 10 we will immediately notice the changes. As soon as we start the iPhone we will see the first of the news. And, just by sliding the locked screen to the left, a new panel of widgets will open before us that we can customize to our liking by adding or removing them.
There are also changes to the screen lock, which has a new much softer sound and will also emit a vibration. The sound of the keyboard has also been softened, which is no longer as shrill as it has been before.
The notification center and the notifications in the balloon inside the locked screen have also changed their image, now being highlighted by a grayish box that makes them easier to see with the naked eye.
3D Touch technology - the most remarkable change
Without a doubt, 3D Touch technology has been the main protagonist of this new version of the apple operating system. And it is that, it takes an important place in the usability of the system, allowing us to do many things that until now were not available.
3D Touch for control center
The center control goes from having one window to having two. In the first one we find the brightness control, the shortcuts to Wi-Fi mode, night mode, Night Shift, AirPlay, automatic turn control, airplane mode, flashlight, timer, calculator and camera, AirDrop and Bluetooth. If we slide the screen to the right, we will find a second window dedicated to the reproduction that allows us to select the reproduction medium as well as to manage the controls, both volume and track.
And what does the 3D Touch paint in all this ? Well, a lot, since some of the functions have been assigned different options that we can control by pressing directly on the screen. For example, if we press the flashlight, we will have the possibility to choose up to three different light intensities, as with the timer, in which we can activate 4 modes "" 1 hour, 20 minutes, 5 minutes or 1 minute " ". The calculator and camera also include new touchscreen options as we can see below.
Notifications control
Until now, when we had several applications grouped in a single folder, it showed us the number of notifications that we had in total, adding all the applications included in that folder. Now with iOS 10 we will only have to press lightly on the folder so that a list with the notifications of each application appears, one by one.
In addition to this, the 3D Touch menus that we found so far, such as the weather application or the photos, come with more options and are more complete.
Application "home"
The “home” application, as its name suggests, aims to connect to the domotic devices that we have in our home in order to control them all from the iPhone. By connecting smart devices with this application we can turn on the lights or turn up the heating with a simple "Siri, I'm cold. " Obviously it is an application that requires that we have devices of this nature to pair them, so it will not be used much by ordinary mortals.
Watch
The clock tool includes a new function that is closer to the health section than the alarm section, but it has certainly been a great success. With this new tool called "sleep" we can monitor our hygiene at rest. The tool allows us to mark our sleep patterns and sound an alarm not only to get up, but also to warn us that we have to go to sleep if we want to meet our target of pre-set hours of rest. In addition, it includes several very light alarms that help us wake up smoothly.
A push for iMessage
Apple's messaging tool is the most used in countries like the United States but not in other parts of the world where WhatsApp, Messenger or Telegram have a covered niche. To boost the use of iMessage in this new update, several changes have been included that give iMessage a large number of possibilities -some more useful than others-.
Returning to 3D Touch technology, Apple has integrated into iMessage something that until now was only possible on an Apple Watch: Digital Touch. With this option we can send predetermined 3D images, heartbeats and even drawings from one device to another .
New ways of sending messages have also been included. On the one hand, we can send the text in four different formats: force, scream softness or invisible ink. The first three will change the size of the characters and the last one will send the message covered by a halo of glitter and can only be read when the recipient "erases" that glitter by running their finger over it.
In addition, we also have the possibility of accompanying our message with a background as if it were a greeting or an interactive postcard. We have balloons, confetti, fireworks, a shooting star, and even lasers to attach to our text.
Also the way of attaching multimedia files has changed. Now the images and video will be sent in full size and we can edit over them by adding text and even drawing on them with our finger. In the case of photographs we can even add a marker with a magnifying glass that enlarges the area of the specific photo that we want to highlight and in the case of videos we can paint live on them while we are recording.
Emojis and Apple Music
In addition to all these news, two more are also updated. On the one hand, the cast of emojis are added to the parity incorporating both sexes in all their characters. They have also been redesigned and have a more friendly appearance. On the other hand, Apple Music has also changed, now having a much simpler and more intuitive interface and a more renewed design.
At the moment these are the most interesting news that we have found testing the iOS 10 beta and remember that starting tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. you can download the final version in addition to the watchOS 3 versions for Apple Watch and MacOS Sierra for Mac.
