Nexus One, Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and Samsung Nexus GT-I9260. It is clear that the guys from Google and Samsung will decide on a name with so little commercial hook for the next native mobile from Mountain View, but for the moment, that is the only clue we have of what could be the fourth generation of headend devices with Android system.
Through the SamMobile website, an internal document of the South Korean firm has been uncovered, detailing the characteristics of a phone that literally sits halfway between the latest Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the powerful Samsung Galaxy S3.
With no other signs of identity than the name Samsung Nexus and the GT-I9260 code that we mentioned at the beginning, this device would expand its benefits significantly compared to what was seen in the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, approaching the characteristics of the one that today, In the absence of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, it is the most powerful Android-based mobile phone on the market.
Four are, in principle, the differences that the mysterious Samsung Nexus maintains with respect to its predecessor: processor, main camera, secondary camera and memory. In theory, there would be a fifth, regarding the screen, although the variation that is exposed in the aforementioned document is, to say the least, disconcerting.
And it is that as mentioned, the Samsung Nexus would have a 4.65-inch screen based on Super AMOLED HD panel "" or HD Super AMOLED, as Samsung itself calls it "". However, the Galaxy Nexus already carries a screen of this type, according to the technical specifications of the equipment, contrary to what the leaked information says, which classifies the panel of said terminal as Super AMOLED. Thus, there are four basic differences that, initially, would distance one and the other device.
Regarding the processor, a dual-core chip would remain, but now the unit's clock frequency goes from 1.2 GH to 1.5 GHz. The cameras also gain in solvency. While the Samsung Galaxy Nexus l cam a combo of five and a 1.3 megapixel camera, the Samsung Nexus GT-I9260 bet on higher resolution in this regard, growing to eight 1.9 megapixels respectively, thus equated to Seen on the Samsung Galaxy S3. What remains to be seen is whether, in addition, it would carry the same sensors as the high-end of the South Korean firm.
Finally, the memory of the hypothetical Samsung Nexus also improve. But not in terms of internal storage, but of expansion. As you may already know, Google initially presented two models of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, according to the internal fund of 16 and 32 GB, although finally the 32 GB model ended up being canceled.
In the case of the Samsung Nexus, the 16 GB version would remain, but this time it would offer, unlike its predecessor, the possibility of installing microSD memory cards. The question, at this point, is whether the maximum expandable would be 32GB, as is usual, or whether it will adopt the Samsung Galaxy S3 option, which supports drives up to 64GB.
Finally, it is worth raising a final reflection regarding this device: would we be facing a strengthened review of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus or before the fourth generation of Google phones, being the third that would run from the South Korean firm's account?
In the case of the first option, it seems more than likely that the terminal will go on the market this year with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean system; if it is the second option, we could start weighing in a small additional delay time, perhaps with a view to tackling the first bars of 2013 hand in hand with the next edition of the house platform, which has already been given in calling Android 4.2 ”” or Android 5.0 ”” Key Lime Pie.
