As we told you a couple of days ago, you can breathe easy if you just bought the iPad 2. At least if what The Wall Street Journal publishes today corresponds to reality. The American publication claims to have accessed a report that assures that Apple has begun to contact the suppliers involved in the production of the next model of its popular and successful tablet.
The plans of the Cupertino firm would go through starting to configure the order sheet so that the iPad 3, or as it may finally be called (it has been baptized as iPad 2 Premium), can begin to be sold at the beginning of 2012. However, it is not known if it will coincide with the rhythm that began last year, and that marks the commercial kick-off in March, or if on the contrary the launch of the iPad 3 would be ahead of what was seen with the two editions that we already know.
With a view to its launch, Apple would have placed a series of orders that serve to manufacture 1.5 million units for the launch. In terms of specifications, the rotary US only talks about the vaunted 9.7 - inch equipped with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels (the models that are available today offer 1,024 x 768 pixels).
In recent months, the possibility had been raised through leaks and reports that Apple would strike again in the tablet market with a professional-oriented update to its iPad 2. The new screen with double the resolution would have been one of the most remarkable features of that hypothetical revision that, according to the latest information, and provided that Apple does not surprise in the coming weeks, would not finally see the light in the deadlines that were raised.
