Apple added a new feature to the iPhone 6S screen last year. It is the 3D Touch, a function that allows access to different extra shortcuts on the device, exerting gentle pressure on the panel. This year the company has incorporated it back into its current flagship iPhone 7. It is also improving this section with new functions and shortcuts for all types of users. If you don't know how to use it and you would like to learn it, don't worry because today we are going to talk in detail about all the secrets that 3D Touch hides.
Adjust the sensitivity of the 3D Touch
First of all, the first thing you have to do is adjust the sensitivity of the 3D Touch. To do this, go to Settings> General> Accessibility. Go down now to the 3D Touch section and enter. You will find three different levels: Soft, Medium or Firm. The former reduces the required pressure, while the Firm setting increases it. A test is attached below to test the sensitivity that convinces you the most.
Explore the home screen
If you have done a little research, you will know that the most basic functions of the 3D Touch are found on the home screen. You just have to press hard on the icon of the application you want to find its 3D Touch shortcuts. We recommend that you test often with the applications you use regularly. You may end up finding new options added in the latest updates. As you can see in the following screenshot, some apps such as Facebook or YouTube allow you to use shortcuts, simply by using 3D Touch. In the case of Facebook, right now it is possible to: Share, Search, Stream a video, Upload an image or video or Write a publication. All this without having to enter the app at all. It redirects you directly to the option you select.
Keep an eye on what happens in a folder
If you have a folder with applications that send notifications in the shape of a circle with the number of them (very frequent in communications), you can also guess the notifications that there are for each app. To do this, you just have to press hard on the folder icon.
Contact shortcuts from Messages
You may not use Apple's messaging app (FaceTime) very often. The truth is that this app has a very interesting shortcut that makes use of 3D Touch. If you press hard on a contact, you can quickly enter all the communication options you have with this user. At the moment only for some particular functions: email, normal call, messages or video call It is a pity that among these options there are no other programs such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. They may be added over time.
Shortcuts in the control center
You may not expect that 3D Touch shortcuts are hidden in the control center. The truth is that there are some quite interesting options. For example, in the flashlight you can choose between different intensities for the light. You can also quickly insert timers or activate some camera functions. In the latter case, they are the same ones that appear in the camera icon on the desktop.
keyboard with cursor
Touch interfaces are not too comfortable at times when writing. Especially when you have to correct, delete a word, a couple of letters… The hardest thing is to find the right place. If you press hard on the iOS keyboard it will become a "trackpad".
In this way it will be very easy for you to find the exact point to continue writing or correcting. Also, if you press hard on the text, you can select word by word. What did you think of the handling of the 3D Touch? Do you think it is useful? You already know that you can tell us your impressions in the comments section.
