The Redmi Note 9S is one of the best mid-range mobile options of 2020. It already has a few weeks officially available on Spanish soil, so it is possible that you are one of the brand new owners of this Xiaomi proposal.
It has a powerful combination of features that can work perfect for both gamers and photo enthusiasts. But a bad configuration of the device or some bad habits in its use can cause more than one problem.
But don't worry, we help you solve some of the common problems that may arise on your device.
The mobile gets too hot
This is a problem that most mobiles manifest at some point. However, it should not happen on the Redmi Note 9S as it is thinking for game fans with all the demands that this implies.
So don't panic, most of the time it is due to misuse or device settings. Before changing any option go to Settings >> Battery and Performance, and make sure that no application is working improperly. To do this, focus on the Battery Usage Statistics section. It will show you a list of all active applications and their consumption.
See if you do not know any app that appears on the list or if there is unusual consumption. In that case, uninstall the problematic apps and test if the phone continues to have problems.
On the other hand, pay attention to what specific times it heats up. Do you have many apps open and at the same time use games with a lot of graphic demand? Have too many apps running in the background? Try to establish a pattern and change it to see if that is the problem.
And of course, take into account the basic options such as not playing with the mobile connected, be careful with the device case or spending hours with too heavy games.
Problems with notifications on the lock screen
Not showing notifications on the lock screen? This is not a mobile problem but is related to the configuration.
You just have to activate notifications and specify which applications you want to enable from Settings >> Notifications. There you will find different options, but focus on Notifications on the lock screen. A list of all installed applications will open with the option to activate notifications. Just select the apps that interest you and you're done.
Other options that you will find to customize this dynamic are those that allow you to decide the format of the notifications, for example, if you want it to show only the notice or all the content, if they can be opened from the lock screen, etc.
Consume too much battery
One of the biggest virtues of the Redmi Note 9S is its 5020 mAH battery, so far from being a problem for users. However, if you have noticed a sharp drop in battery consumption, keep these details in mind.
Do you have applications or games that keep GPS always active on your mobile? Navigation apps or games that need to know your location for their dynamics can work in the background and have the GPS always running.
To control this, go to Settings >> Location and scroll down to the Location access section. There you will find a list of all the apps that request your location. You can try deactivating the permissions of some of them, or directly deactivating the "Location access" so that no app obtains information about your location. It is only a momentary change to see if this may be the problem.
Some users reported in popular forums that there are two options that drain the battery: Enable MIUI optimization and High Risk Features Notification. They are options that are hidden and that can only be deactivated in Developer Mode.
To do this, go to Settings >> About the phone and press 7 times on MIUI Version to activate the Developer Mode. And now go to Additional Settings >> Developer Options and scroll until you find these options:
According to some users, they have noticed that the mobile greatly improves battery performance by adding a couple of hours more. If you want, you can try it but there is no way to know if it will work on your device.
And as we saw in the previous item, pay attention to any pattern of habits that you have implemented in the last time using the Battery section or using an app like GSam Battery Monitor.
The camera locks or opens by itself
This problem has been a headache for some Xiaomi users since the MIUI 11 release, and it must have been fixed in some of the past updates.
So if you are a brand new owner of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S make sure you have all the software updates up to date, and that there is nothing pending. And if it happens sporadically that the camera has problems on your mobile, try clearing data and the cache, or the default configuration values. You will find these options in Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications >> Camera.
On the other hand, if you have installed other camera apps (especially those that you install from APK) it may cause a conflict with their operation. Try uninstalling them to see if that's the problem.
And a tip to avoid inconveniences when you keep your phone in your wallet or pocket: activate Pocket Mode from Camera Settings. This will prevent the "camera working alone" with accidental touches.
Apps are not working properly
Do you have problems with the applications? If it is only an app, it may not have to do with the configuration of the mobile, but rather with some specific inconvenience. For example, a few months ago many users reported problems with the Android Auto app on their Xiaomi phones, and these were solved with OTA updates.
But if you're having trouble with multiple apps installed it's time to take a look at some configuration details.
- Do you have all the permissions enabled for them to work correctly?
- Do you have any energy saving settings activated that prevent its operation?
- And what about the permissions to run in the background?
All these aspects can be checked from Settings >> Battery or Settings >> Applications >> Manage applications. On the other hand, if you have already reviewed all the details of the apps at the configuration level, then try clearing the data and cache of the applications, or uninstalling and installing the latest version from scratch.
And if they are applications that you have downloaded outside of Google Play, it is possible that you have installed a version that is not compatible with your device, or that you have downloaded an APK from an untrusted source.
