MHL is the technology that allows you to duplicate the phone's image on an external screen. Unfortunately, this technology has stopped being implemented to give way to more modern ones, such as USB 3.1. If we talk about Huawei, the company has a very small catalog of MHL-compatible mobiles. Precisely for developing a more advanced function called Huawei PC Mode or EMUI Desktop (depending on the country), a function that draws on the USB 3.1 standard and that allows the mobile interface to become that of an entire desktop system, with windows and native management of files and folders.
What do I need to connect my Huawei mobile with MHL to the TV?
To connect any phone to a television using MHL technology we will have to resort to an HDMI cable and an MHL adapter. These types of adapters can be found in stores such as Amazon, although they are usually not available for the reasons we have indicated above.
After getting an adapter, all we have to do is connect the HDMI cable to the adapter and then to the mobile phone. The image will automatically be broadcast on the monitor or television to which we have plugged the phone.

So what difference is there between MHL and Huawei PC Mode?
The main difference between the MHL standard and the USB 3.1 standard is that the former is limited to duplicating the image of the phone as if it were a projector. On the contrary, the USB 3.1 standard is capable of managing an interface independent of the image displayed on the mobile. This is where Huawei PC Mode comes in.
This mode recreates a desktop environment with window and file management, regardless of the interface displayed on the mobile. In this way we can connect a keyboard and a mouse to the phone to make it a very portable computer. We can also limit ourselves to duplicating the phone image on the screen if we want to watch a movie or play a video from the gallery.
To make this software feature work we will have to meet two requirements: that our mobile has a USB type C connection and that it is based on the USB 3.1 standard. Not all mobiles with a USB type C connection are compatible with the USB 3.1 standard. On the contrary, all mobiles with the USB 3.1 standard have USB type C.
Starting from this base, we can resort to certain USB Type-C to HDMI adapters that allow us to connect the phone directly to an external monitor. We leave you below with a couple of adapters:
