- And what about the youngest of the family?
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 appeared in stores last January. It was a terminal that swept the mid-range in terms of value for money. In these same pages we gave a good account of the result of this mid-range mobile, which was one of the best purchases for the user who did not want to spend a large amount of money but did not want to give up the characteristics of more expensive terminals such as the double camera or the screen with reduced frames.
As the Xiaomi machinery does not stop, it is expected that on August 29, the renewal of the Xiaomi Redmi 8 family will be presented. The Chinese brand wants to implement a new Redmi family, the Redmi 8, which would be made up of three terminals, the Xiaomi Redmi 8, Xiaomi Redmi 8A and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. A movement similar to the one we have seen with the Xiaomi Mi 9 family, composed of the same, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE and the Xiaomi Mi 9T and Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, still pending presentation.
Which of the three will arrive in Europe (or perhaps both?) Is presented as an unsolved mystery.
As a prelude to this renewal, we have decided to collect, in a single space, all the rumors that, for now, have appeared about this new mid-range, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. Will it be a step further compared to its predecessor? Will you continue to maintain that great value for money? We are going to try to clear this and other doubts that may assail us.
All the rumors about the Xiaomi Redmi 8 family
Xiaomi Redmi 8 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 8
Design and display
Just on Monday morning, the page specialized in leaks Slashleaks has shown the new Xiaomi Redmi 8 in a recent photograph. The terminal appears upside down, being able to distinguish a lower frame similar to that seen in the previous Xiaomi Redmi Note 7. As a novelty, the brand name would appear superimposed on the front of the terminal instead of having it on the back. However, the brand could disappear from the front in the final version of it.
In the image you can not see the upper frame so we have to take a look at other rumors that have appeared on the Internet in recent weeks. For example, on the Techdroider YouTube channel they tell us about a leak in which we can see a notch somewhat more stylized than the one that appeared on the Redmi Note 7. Otherwise, the design remains intact, with the usual keypad on one side of the terminal and, at the bottom, the speaker and headphone port in addition to the USB Type-C connection.
In the photographic section, the surprise appears in the form of a quadruple rear configuration, although we do not know if this will belong exclusively to the Pro model of the family, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. We can see how we have a triple set of lenses, arranged in a vertical and a fourth that appears outside the set, to one side of it. The possible configuration of the quad rear camera would consist of:
- An angular main lens, typical of any mobile device
- A second wide angle lens, with which you can take photos with a wider angle of view, ideal for landscapes and groups of people
- A third telephoto lens. With it we will be able to have an optical zoom with which to bring the image closer without losing sharpness.
- The fourth sensor would be ToF, which would measure three-dimensional space to improve portrait mode, the one in which we photograph something or someone in the foreground and the background is out of focus.
Among the most well founded rumors regarding the main camera, it is speculated that it would have 64 megapixels in its Pro version.
In the filtered images we do not appreciate, on the back of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, any fingerprint sensor, not even arranged on the side of the device, so everything seems to indicate that we will have a fingerprint sensor under the screen, as we already have in the recent Xiaomi Mi 9T mid-range. However, more recent images do bet on locating the sensor on the back of the screen. We leave you the corresponding image. In it, we would find the set of four lenses in the same vertical row, contradicting the previous rumors.
As for the processor that it carried, here we have to raise an eyebrow. Trying not to draw early conclusions, the fact that Xiaomi recovers the Mediatek processor for its Redmi Note range is a small step backwards in relation to the Snapdragon brand. However, we will have to wait to have the device and perform the relevant tests. Specifically, it would be the first mobile on the market to incorporate the new Mediatek Helio G90T, a pioneer of the brand by being focused on the gaming market. This processor would be manufactured in 12 nanometers, composed of eight cores that would reach a clock speed of 2.05 Ghz. There will be two versions of this new Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, 3 GB of RAM plus 32 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM plus 64 GB of storage, exactly the same as those available in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7.
Regarding the battery, we do not know the capacity that the batteries of these two terminals will have but we see it unlikely that it will drop below 4,000 mAh. It is also known that they will have improved fast charging in relation to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and it is that they can be charged at 18W. Some rumors suggest that this fast charge would only be available in the king of the range, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, also including the compatible charger.
And what about the youngest of the family?
The Xiaomi Redmi 8A could come with an entry-level processor, the Snapdragon 439, a processor that we have already seen present in other terminals of the brand of the same range in the catalog as its predecessor the Xiaomi Redmi 7A. Of course, Xiaomi is committed to providing the low-end with a RAM memory and improper storage in this price range: we will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. We will also enjoy a 5,000 mAh battery.
