The update to Android 7 for Samsung mobiles
Much of the equipment that is currently part of the Samsung catalog has the right to be updated. The firm usually provides them with support for at least two years. So the number of devices that enter the pool of candidates to be updated is quite large.
Check if your mobile appears in this list, because in that case you should prepare for an update (sooner or later). Right next to each device we include the status of the update or the approximate date of deployment.

Why does it take so long to update?
It is not a question of the Samsung company. All manufacturers take time to update their equipment. But why? The process is often long and tedious because there is a lot of preparation to do.
First, chip and card makers have to get hold of the code that enables the operating system to work with the hardware. Otherwise, the platform would be unable to interact with the different components of the team.
If we take into account that there are countless manufacturers and different brands, the delay is served. Once this first contact is made, and after several weeks of testing (it can be between 5 and 8), Google has to serve a finished version for each of the manufacturers and devices.
To this must be added the personalization that each brand makes. Those layers that are superimposed on the original operating system to give a touch of customization and a specific interface of each brand.
Then the trial period begins, in which the manufacturer will check if everything works correctly. Sometimes it does this with private betas and small groups of users. It is about everything being fine before serving the update to common phones.
News from Samsung for your mobiles
It is possible, on the other hand, that Samsung takes advantage of these updates to add changes of its own. In the case of Android 7 we have to have the following news:
- An improved design. They change some design concepts. New colors are now included and transparencies have been added to the application tray. Change the tonality of the notification bar and the different switches, which are now shown in light blue.
- More battery. The update to Android 7 brings the Doze mode, which from now on will take advantage of the battery at any time the phone is stopped. But it is that in addition, some Samsung devices will include new ways to manage energy levels more successfully.
- Intelligent data management. It happens frequently. We are filling our mobile with content and applications until it is completely saturated. With this update a management system is added to be able to easily eliminate junk files and close all those apps that are hindering the performance of the terminal.
- Mute applications. Some apps are very useful, but at certain times when we need peace of mind they can be annoying. With the update we will have the opportunity to leave them in silence or put them to sleep until we decide to start them again.
- Blue filter. It may not be operational on all phones, but some devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S7, will be able to enjoy it. It is the new (and expected) blue filter that will help us protect our tired eyes from the impact of the light from the phone.
