Android 7 has arrived in a vast majority of devices. Most of Sony's mobiles have already received the data packet. So have the most cutting-edge equipment in the Samsung catalog.
Something similar has happened with the Huawei catalog. The main smartphones have already seen the update to Android 7. However, some users may still be clueless. Or they have not received any notification about it.
If you have a Huawei mobile and you haven't seen anything yet, maybe you should take a look at all the information we offer you below. Here you will find information about the update schedule, but also about the different improvements you can expect from this version.
Update to Android 7 for Huawei phones
Do you already know which Huawei phones will receive the update to Android 7? If you have questions or are not sure if your device will be updated, take a look at this information. And check if the update is ready or if you still have to wait a bit.
If your mobile does not appear in this list, it means that it will not be updated or that, at the moment, Huawei has not confirmed the move to Android 7.
- Huawei P9: operational since January 2017
- Huawei P9 Plus: it has started to arrive in March 2017
- Huawei P9 lite: available from the end of March 2017
- Huawei Nova: the update has already started in Spain.
- Huawei Nova Plus: can be installed from April 2017
- Huawei Mate 9: It already works with Android 7. You should soon receive Android 7.1 or higher.
- Huawei Mate 9 Porsche: It already works with Android 7. You should soon receive Android 7.1 or higher.
- Huawei Mate 8: available from February 2017
The Huawei P8 and P8 lite will not be updated to Android 7. The Huawei Mate S will not receive this data package either.
How and when should I update my Huawei?
As you can see, all the terminals that had to be updated to the new version of Android are already receiving the data package. Many of the dates indicated here correspond directly to the launch in Spain, but there are others that mark the beginning of this same update to Android 7 in other countries.
We say this because these updates are progressive in nature. And that it has reached certain countries, such as China (country of origin of the firm) does not necessarily mean that it should already be available in Spain.
Be that as it may, we recommend you pay attention to the team. Because most likely you will receive a direct notification, in which you are told that you already have the update to Android 7. If you think that enough time has passed and you should have received it, it would be better to check it manually.
To do this, go to the Settings section> About the device> Updates> Update now. If it is not yet operational, you will have to keep waiting. If it's ready, you can start the download whenever you want.
How to launch the update to Android 7 for Huawei phones
Launching the update is not complicated at all. Keep in mind that it arrives via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air). This means that it will land on your mobile progressively. It may take longer if your team is associated with an operator, as the preparations and customizations further delay the process.
If you are going to update your equipment, keep in mind that you must first:
- Fully charge the phone battery. Make it at least 50% full. We must avoid unexpected blackouts and any other setback that could put the proper functioning of the equipment at risk.
- Connect to a wireless WiFi network. You will need it to download data, which can even exceed 1 GB in weight. It is important to have a stable and agile connection so as not to waste your data quota.
- Make a backup of all your most important contents and settings. Keep in mind that update processes are always delicate. Any failure can affect the stability of the phone, so it is important to have everything well insured.
What improvements can I expect from Android 7 for my Huawei?
Logically, the update to Android 7 brings very important improvements for these teams. In fact, the general improvements that are coming for all smartphones are expected.
On the other hand, however, there are the specific improvements for Huawei devices. And it is that the Chinese manufacturer has taken advantage of the opportunity (they all do) to introduce certain changes and interesting news. We can mention the following.
- EMUI user interface 5. It is the new layer of personalization (a classic in Huawei terminals), which will only be available for the firm's devices. It looks completely simplified and with different themes to add.
- Mis-touch functionality. It is a function that will help us to avoid accidentally accessing content and functions. Just for having accidentally clicked on the screen.
- Private section. It is the secondary section that Huawei has enabled to save more private information. This feature can come in handy for business users when storing confidential documents or other particularly sensitive files. These will be saved as if they were on a second phone and protected with a password or fingerprint.
- Dual Instant Messaging System. To use two WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger accounts on the same device. This will be of great help if you manage your business and personal account, but want to do it from a single mobile.
- New touch gestures. A functionality to speed up the access and execution of certain functions. All it takes is a simple gesture or drawing a letter to activate just what you need.
- Noise cancellation. Very important when recording videos, because the dirtying noise will be minimized and the source of the noise from the source will be better detected thanks to the four integrated microphones.
