iOS 13 is the new version of the operating system for Apple mobile devices. Although it includes an improvement in terms of functions and performance, it is true that some things have changed, which at first can be very misleading with respect to the way we used them before. This is the case of deleting applications. If before, we simply had to press on the app, leaving the finger placed on it so that the icon began to shake and thus be able to erase it, now we will have to be patient and lengthen that press a little more. It is no longer enough to make a strong press, you need a slightly longer press.
Therefore, if you have just installed iOS 13 and need to free up space by deleting applications, you may have gone crazy deleting them as before and you have not found a way. Now, when you press hard that you did before just above the app, you will see a new menu with different options to configure the app. Only if you press and hold your finger on it for a little longer can you remove it from your mobile. Here we explain what types of pulsations you can make and what each one is for. The second is the one that you will have to take into account when deleting the app.
Strong press: You do not delete apps, but you can perform other functions
If you go to an app from the menu on the panel of your iPhone or iPad and press the button you did before to delete it, you will come across a new menu with different options. Always depending on the app, you can do the following:
- Add the app as a Widget
- Depending on the app, see extra information. In the case of the one we have selected (Night Sky), we can see the percentage of clouds that there are today, the temperature or the time of sunrise and sunset
- You can also go to important shortcuts within that app. In this case, it allows you to directly enter the app's sky view function, your night sky, or do a search within the app
- Another possibility you have is being able to rearrange it to locate it in a specific place on the menu. When you click here, the app will start to shake and you can move it to another place on the screen
- Also, as we show you in the previous screenshot, you can share it with your contacts, either through email, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, or save it in files or copy the link and then paste it where you need it.
Long press: now you can delete your apps
If you leave your finger pressed for a few seconds on the app you want to delete, even holding it after the menu appears to carry out the different functions of your applications, you can finally delete it. As we are indicating, it is a much longer pulse than before. This is because Apple has given priority in iOS 13 to how to organize applications, now giving us the possibility to have better control of each of them. In this way, it is now much faster to go to the different settings and functions of each of them.
Delete apps from settings
Another way to delete apps from your iPhone or iPad to get more free space is to enter the Settings and General section.
Next, go into iPhone Storage. Here, in addition to being able to see the space you have available on your device, you can click on the app you want to delete and, once inside it, click on the Delete app option and thus delete it permanently.
