The new Xiaomi Mi Band 4, or rather, the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4, has just been launched on the market. It does so through two versions, one with NFC and the other without NFC. In front we find rivals such as the Xiaomi Mi Band 3, a smart bracelet that today continues to be one of the best options when it comes to wearables. Display: monochrome vs color

The main difference between the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 and the Mi Smart Band 4 is found on the screen, and specifically in technology and size.

And it is that while on the screen of the Mi Band 3 we find a monocolor OLED panel, the Mi Band 4 has a color panel. In both cases they are tactile, although they must be activated through the haptic button that the two bracelets include.

It should also be noted the difference in size between one screen and another, 0.78 inches in the case of the third iteration and 0.95 in the case of the fourth. Despite the increase in size, the dimensions of the Mi Band 4 do not differ much from the Mi Band 3, at least in terms of weight, with such a difference of 1 and 2 grams (20 grams compared to 21 and 22 grams of the Smartband 4).

Of course, both have IP68 protection against water and dust with resistance to immersion up to 50 meters deep.

More functions for Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4

The second novelty of the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 vs Mi Band 3 has to do with the number of functions implemented in the bracelet.

In addition to the traditional functions of clock, stopwatch, countdown, sleep measurement, exercise, heart rate, steps and reception of calls and notifications, the Mi Band 4 has music control and personalized alerts in case of detecting a sudden increase in heart rate.

Another novelty of the Mi Band 4 has to do with voice control, compatible with the Xiao AI assistant that is currently only available in China. Its compatibility with the international version has not been announced, so we will not enjoy this feature at the moment.

More connectivity with mobile payments

Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC are the main connectivity novelties that the Mi Band 4 presents. Compared to the Bluetooth 4.2 connection of the Mi Band 3, the new Xiaomi bracelet has a greater range and greater stability in the connection, as well as lower energy consumption.

As for NFC connectivity, this is only found in a variant of the Mi Band 4. At the moment Xiaomi has only announced the version without NFC. It is unknown if the version with NFC will end up reaching Spain officially, although everything indicates that it will not. If so, we can make payments through the bracelet using the Xiaomi payments application.

The same theoretical autonomy in both cases

Despite maintaining the same theoretical size and a somewhat larger screen size, both bracelets have a theoretical autonomy of 20 days of use on a single charge.

In technical data, we talk about a capacity of 110 mAh for the battery of the Mi Band 3 and 135 and 125 mAh for the fourth generation of Mi Band with NFC and without NFC. It will be necessary to see if the figures promised by Xiaomi comply with what is indicated, by having a color screen and a more complete connectivity a priori.

Almost identical price

Although the price of the Mi Band 4 has not yet been confirmed, logic tells us that it will start from a price significantly higher than the Mi Band 3.

The latter can currently be found for 29.99 euros. The SmarBand 4 could start at a price of about 39.99 euros, although in China it is possible to find it for 21 euros at the change in its most basic version.

Upgrade

Xiaomi has just confirmed the price of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 4 in Spain, which will start at 34.99 euros for the version without NFC. We will be able to buy the bracelet from June 26 at the usual points of sale.
