On February 26, Huawei officially launched the Huawei P40 Lite, the natural successor to the P30 Lite that comes to improve some of the shortcomings of the original model. Months later, the Asian manufacturer introduced a cheaper version of the P40 Lite. We are talking about the Huawei P40 Lite E, a mobile that inherits the design of the P40 Lite and cuts out some of the most striking features of the mid-range model, being an option closer to the low range. To know all the differences between the Huawei P40 Lite E vs P40 Lite we have made a roadmap with the main dissimilarities between the two terminals of the Chinese brand.

A very similar design with some notable differences
In the aesthetic section, the differences between one mobile and another are scarce. Both terminals are supported by a chassis made of plastic and a diagonal of 6.4 inches. In fact, the dimensions of the two devices are practically identical, except for thickness and weight, with a difference of just 0.6 millimeters and 7 grams. This is because the Huawei P40 Lite has a higher capacity battery, an aspect that we will discuss in its respective section.
Another of the most significant differences between the Huawei P40 Lite vs P40 Lite E is found in the location of the fingerprint sensor. While the former places the sensor on one of the sides to act as an unlock button at the same time, the P40 Lite E opts for a more traditional position: on the back of the device. This ties in with the layout of the camera module, being longer on the P40 Lite E and wider on the P40 Lite.
The screen also makes a difference
Despite the fact that we find similar dimensions, Huawei has chosen to install two radically different screens. At 6.4 inches, the P40 Lite drinks from an IPS panel with Full HD + resolution and 398 pixels per inch. In the P40 Lite E we find an IPS panel with HD + resolution and a pixel density of 269 points.
Beyond the technical differences, the real difference between one screen and another is found in the final image quality. This difference goes beyond resolution: viewing angles, brightness, and color rendering are superior on the P40 Lite.
Hardware: low-end vs. mid-range
So is. The Huawei P40 Lite E mounts a 2019 processor, the Kirin 710F, along with 4 GB of RAM. This processor, in turn, is a slight revision of the Kirin 710, a model presented in 2018. The Huawei P40 Lite, meanwhile, has a Kirin 810 processor and 6 GB of RAM.
In the section of the memories we also find important differences. While the 64 GB of the P40 Lite E is mounted on an eMMC 5.1 memory, the 128 GB of the P40 Lite draws on the UFS 2.1 standard, a much faster and solvent standard. Both phones support memory card expansion (micro SD in the P40 Lite E and NM Card in the P40 Lite E).
This affects the opening of applications, the handling of data flows and the general experience of the device, something that is also conditioned by the Android version. After all, the P40 Lite has Android 10 under EMUI 10.1 update through. Unfortunately, the P40 Lite E is still stuck on Android 9 Pie, the version with which it was officially presented. It is worth saying that neither of the two terminals has Google services, although we can install them later.
Similar cameras on paper
The differences between the Huawei P40 Lite E vs Huawei P40 Lite in the photographic section are not as extensive as one might expect. If we take a look at the technical specifications of each team, we find a very similar roadmap.
Specifically, the P40 Lite uses four cameras on its rear of 48, 8, 2 and 2 megapixels with the classic lens distribution: main sensor, wide angle, macro and depth. For its part, the P40 Lite E has three 48, 8 and 2 megapixel sensors with an identical lens distribution, except for the macro lens sensor. The specifications of the main sensors are also very similar (focal aperture f / 1.7, 1 / 2.0-inch sensor, 0.8-micron pixels…), so the quality of the photos should be similar if we ignore the image processing processors.
If we move to the front, here the differences are somewhat more tangible: 8 megapixels compared to 16 on the P40 Lite. Both feature 1080p video recording at 30 FPS, a feature inherited by the sensors on the rear.
Autonomy and load: one of lime and another of sand
As we indicated at the beginning of the article, the Huawei P40 Lite has a higher capacity battery, specifically 4,200 mAh versus 4,000 mAh of the P40 Lite E. Does this imply greater autonomy?
The theory tells us that it is, although it should be noted that the P40 Lite has a higher resolution screen (1080p), which should influence energy consumption. Still, those 200 mAh difference should be enough to obtain greater autonomy, precisely because of the incorporation of a much more efficient processor, with a 7 nanometer manufacturing compared to the 12 nanometer of the Kirin 710F of the P40 Lite E.
It is time to talk about the load. In the case of the P40 Lite we find a system of no less than 40 W, which should give us a load of 70% in just under 30 minutes. On the side of the P40 Lite E we find a 10 W system, a figure quite far from the 40 W of the original model and which could lead to charging times above an hour and a half.
There are also important differences in connectivity
The incorporation of one processor or another also brings connectivity differences. The most alarming has to do with the charging connector: micro USB versus the reversible USB type C connection of the Huawei P40 Lite. In the framework of wireless connectivity we also find some significant differences.
For example, the Huawei P40 Lite E has an FM radio and a headphone jack input, something that the P40 Lite lacks. The Huawei P40 Lite, for its part, has NFC technology to make mobile payments.
Price is the biggest difference between the P40 Lite vs P40 Lite E
All the technical differences just mentioned also influence the price. In the official Huawei store, the price of the two terminals is 160 and 260 euros, 100 euros of difference between one and the other. If we turn to stores like Amazon, this difference dissipates slightly.
For example, the P40 Lite sells at a price of 210 euros, while the P40 Lite E sells for approximately 145 euros. Within this difference, it should be noted that the P40 Lite has twice the capacity of the P40 Lite E.
