Many users on Twitter and several Internet forums have gathered to report the receipt of an alleged SMS from Liberbank announcing the receipt of "a transfer" that needs to "be validated online. " The problem is that many of these users claim to have no relationship whatsoever with the bank, so the veracity of the SMS is in question. The company itself has already confirmed that the text message does not belong to any of its business lines. But what is really hidden behind SMS? We see it.
I have received an SMS from Liberbank, who is it?
During the last 24 hours, dozens of profiles have reported on Twitter having received a message notifying of alleged transfers to account with the name of Liberbank. Following the style of other fraudulent SMS, the content of the message includes a link from which you can supposedly access the Liberbank page to accept the operation. Specifically, the SMS reads the following:
From the official profile of Liberbank they have already confirmed that it is not a message issued by the entity, as we can see in the following tweet:
What is really hidden behind the link to the supposed bank page is a fake website that perfectly imitates the aesthetics of the Liberbank portal. Once the username and password are entered, the page sends the information to the thieves' server to obtain full access to online banking. Subsequently, operations are carried out from the same account without the express consent of the user.
What can I do if I have already entered my data on the fake website
The different entities recommend contacting the bank's customer service immediately to proceed with the password change, a process that we can carry out from the Liberbank web application itself. If we resort to the telephone, we can contact through the following number:
- 985 969 700
The cost of the call is the same as that of any national prefix, so we will not have to pay any additional supplement for prefixes 901 or 902. Another option is to go to a nearby Liberbank office to comment on the case and block any type of operation carried out in the last 24 hours. Still, the best option is to use customer service.
