During the last days, dozens of users have denounced the receipt of an SMS on the Internet through the number 666256843. Apparently, the message in question comes to alert us that our bank account has been blocked for security reasons. The person responsible for the message is supposedly ING Direct, although some users claim to have received a similar message from other entities, such as BBVA or Banco Santander. This is a phishing attempt. This method is used by cybercriminals to impersonate a specific body or company. In this case, the message is accompanied by a web link that takes us to a page traced to that of ING Direct. After entering the bank details, they are sent to the robbers to remotely access the account and make unauthorized withdrawals of money.

The only protection barrier that we can apply to avoid falling into this type of fraud is to block messages from the number in question.
