If you are a Fortnite player on mobile, it is likely that you have ever used mobile data or 4G to load a game or play away from home. Since many of the operators offer a data plan with a large amount of GB, you may not take into account the expense of a simple game of Fortnite. I wanted to do a real test and play a game with the WiFi disabled and using only mobile data with 4G. This is what I have spent.
Measuring the amount of GB that Fortnite spends is very simple. First of all, I have checked how much mobile data I had consumed with the video game before. So when the game is over, I can watch it. To know how many expenses we have spent, we must perform the following steps.
- On iPhone: go to Settings> Mobile data. In the 'Mobile data' section, look for the Fortnite app. The number just below the app indicates the amount of mobile data used.
- On Android: go to Settings> Mobile data> Mobile data usage. Search the Fortnite roster. You will see how much data you have spent.
In the first attempt, playing a game (around 15 minutes), I have spent 8.4 MB of my mobile data rate. After half an hour playing Fortnite with mobile data, the consumption has been about 30 MB. After an hour and several games I have spent a total of 60 -70 MB. It's not really a large amount, although it does consume a bit more than other similar games, such as PUBG Mobile.
Fortnite does not always spend the same.
Is Fortnite likely to spend more depending on the device? Different factors influence, not only the mobile model (which by the way, is one of them). Depending on what quality we play Fortnite, the expense will be different. It is not the same to play a game at low resolution than at the highest resolution. Also at the Fps: with 60 fps (the maximum that Fortnite allows in some models) the consumption is higher than with 30 fps. It should also be taken into account that data consumption is greater when the game is searching for a game or loading all the content than when we play.
Therefore, if you want to play Fortnite and do not want to spend a lot of MB, it is best to apply a low quality. However, and taking into account that many of the rates we find are 10, 20 or more GB, the consumption of Fortnite is not excessive.
