The first day of IFA starts strong. On this occasion, Sony was the first to kick off the Sony Xperia 5, the renewal of the Xperia 1 that, in addition to renewing part of the device's design, comes with a significantly smaller screen size than its predecessor. On the contrary, the technical section does not suffer any type of alteration, this being the same as that of the Xperia 1. Neither does the photographic section, which this time replicates the benefits seen with the first generation.

More compact than the Sony Xperia 1
The main and more than perceptible difference between the Sony Xperia 1 and the Xperia 5 is the size, a size that does not exceed 16 centimeters high and 7 wide thanks to the 6.1-inch screen that integrates the terminal, a screen that is accompanied by a 21: 9 format more typical of cinema screens than smartphones. The resolution, yes, goes from 4K to Full HD +, a more than acceptable resolution for a panel of no more than 6.1 inches. Luckily, we still keep OLED technology.
Another difference from its counterpart is based on the design of the rear. Now the triple camera is located on one of the sides, like the fingerprint sensor, which is again located on the right side to improve grip compared to a traditional sensor.
Few new hardware
The new Sony terminal does not come as a renewal of the Sony Xperia 1, but as a Compact or Lite version of the latter, but really Lite. A grosso modo , the phone has the same characteristics as its counterpart: Snapdragon processor 855 (no 855+), 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.
The rest of the features imitate those of the other high-end phones of 2019. NFC, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS compatible with all satellites and so on. In terms of autonomy, the Sony Xperia 5 has a 3,140 mAh module compatible with Sony's fast charging system.
The triple camera as the undisputed protagonist
Sony wanted to replicate the movement it launched with the Xperia 1 by integrating the same triple camera as in the model presented months ago. A triple camera made up of three independent sensors of 12 megapixels each and focal aperture f / 1.6, f / 2.4 and f / 2.4.
If we talk about lenses, the second and third sensors make use of telephoto and wide-angle lenses. As for the front camera, Sony has not given details of the type of sensor used, although everything indicates that we will find the same 8 megapixel camera and focal aperture f / 2.0 that the Xperia 1 integrated.
Price and availability of the Sony Xperia 5 in Spain
The company has announced that the Xperia 5 will begin to be available from next month in most of the European countries. Unfortunately, the starting price has not been provided, which could start at 749 euros according to our estimates.
