Although high-end mobiles usually take all the headlines, in the end the true kings of the market are the mid-range. This is where the bulk of sales take place, and manufacturers are aware that competition is increasing every day. The Sony Xperia 10 is proof that innovation is also part of this segment. A terminal that, like its older brother Sony Xperia 1, bets on a screen with a 21: 9 cinema format. Of course, with a size smaller than 6 inches and LCD technology, which can further cloud the final experience.
Within the photographic section it seems that Sony has knelt in front of the reality of the market. Despite not being your top mobile, the Xperia 10 includes a double main camera on the back. On paper it will not be very powerful, since a 13 megapixel sensor is combined with another five to create the typical bokeh effects. In its guts we find a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 3 GB of RAM and good internal memory. We tell you the main characteristics of this model.

Ultra-wide screen
It is the big news from Sony for this year. And the Xperia 10 was not going to be left behind. This mid-range model includes a six-inch screen with a 21: 9 aspect ratio. That is, much more elongated than wide. The advantages are obvious: on the one hand, we can enjoy videos and movies that occupy the entire front without having to go through conversions (zoom or the use of black stripes on the sides). On the other hand, it is a very attractive format to use the split screen with two apps.
However, the fact that it is so long can become a daily handicap, both when handling the terminal and when storing it in pockets. We are looking forward to testing one of these phones in depth to see if this format is annoying. The technology of the screen itself is LCD, with a Full HD + resolution. It must be said that Sony has optimized the space quite well, especially underneath, with a very thin frame. Another thing is the upper part, which does have a greater width. Perhaps at this point the Japanese firm has fallen a step behind, since it pales in front of the cleaner designs with a perforated camera (or even with notch).
Return the fingerprint reader to the on / off button
The design of the Sony Xperia 10 has that classic air - and even a bit old - from which the Sony Xperia has not managed to escape so far. On the positive side, that makes them very recognizable terminals, but it also loses its sense of innovation. One of the details that I liked the most about the design is the recovery of the fingerprint reader on the power button. It is a position that works really well, and if it maintains the same performance as in previous years, it will become a useful and not cumbersome tool to unlock the mobile when we have it.
The Xperia 10 will be available in four different shades: black, gray, blue and pink, with the body reinforced by Gorilla Glass 5 glass. Of course, it seems that in this case we will not have a design resistant to dust and water as in other mid-range models of the firm.
Dual camera for blur effects
It seems that Sony has finally surrendered to the market trend of introducing double and triple cameras in mobiles. In the case of the Sony Xperia 10, we find a double camera with a main sensor of 13 megapixels and a secondary sensor of 5 megapixels. This second sensor is the one that captures the depth data in order to create the blur or bokeh effect of the background. At the front we have a less ambitious camera with 8 megapixel resolution and fixed focus.
And what about the technical section? This mobile is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor, along with a 3 GB RAM memory to run the latest version of Android 9 Pie. A sufficient technical set that should serve us without problem in most of the usual functions of the mobile. We like that Sony has gone straight for a 64GB internal memory. This will give us more freedom when it comes to downloading applications, heavy games and taking photos with the mobile - without the need to opt for an extra microSD memory. Be that as it may, we will also have this option to expand memory, since it includes a double slot for a nanoSIM and a microSD or two nanoSIMs.
Perhaps the point that generates the most doubts is that of the battery. The Sony Xperia 10 is left with a 2,870 milliamp battery. It is true that in recent times the company has improved a lot in the management of resources to extend the time of use, but the value is low enough that we wonder if it will be able to withstand the pull of a whole day without need looking for a charging point.
