Recently owners of the Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact received an update to the Android operating system that incorporated the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Although at first it was an update aimed at introducing improvements and new features, some users reported that after updating their terminal, the sound worked in an erroneous way, making tasks as simple as listening to songs or watching movies from the mobile impossible.
Luckily for all these users, Sony has not taken long to react and has already officially confirmed that in the coming days it will launch an update that will solve the sound error in the Sony Xperia Z1, Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Sony Xperia Z1 Compact updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The exact message from the Japanese has been the following:
Sony will make available to users an update that solves the sound problems detected in the Sony Xperia Z1, Z Ultra and Z1 Compact after the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update. We have identified this error and we have detected it in certain units of these mobile terminals. The patch with the sound bug fixed will begin to be available from next April 7, although the arrival of the update also depends on each country and each operator.
This update will arrive in the form of a patch, and according to the official information provided in the Sony statement, users will be able to download it from next April 7. This date is relative, as each Sony division (that is, each country) may release the update on a different date. In addition, users who have purchased one of these terminals under an operator will probably have to wait a few additional days to receive the same update.
As is usual with this type of updates, the best way to check if there is a patch ready for download is to enter the Settings application, click on the " About device " option and then click on the " Operating system update ". With this simple procedure, the terminal will inform us if we have an update ready for download.
In addition to this sound error, some users have also taken the opportunity to remind Sony that after the update they have encountered another important failure: problems in the mobile camera. Apparently, the mobile freezes and is blocked when trying to take a picture with the main camera. This is not a particularly widespread failure among users, but Sony should take it into account to ensure that the entire Xperia mobile community is satisfied with its terminals. Hopefully this little patch fixes both issues at the same time.
