On May 2, Sony has prepared a presentation on video games and mobile phones. The invitation shows a Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, the hybrid terminal between a portable console and a smartphone. And the alarms have already jumped hinting that the new Japanese mobile division could present a new Sony Xperia PLAY 2.
The first mobile-console on the market could be renewed. And Sony, it seems, would be thinking of a version that can gather enough features to be a benchmark in the market. That is why at the next event scheduled for May 2, it could reveal a surprise in this regard with a new Sony Xperia PLAY 2. Large companies such as Gameloft, one of the major video game firms, which has titles on all mobile platforms of the moment will also be present at the event.
In addition, the event is also joined by the discovery of a Sony patent in which a terminal with two sliding keyboards is shown. In other words, the terminal could be somewhat thicker than the current model, but in favor a terminal prepared for both the world of leisure and the world of business would be obtained. And it is that in the first place, and after the touch screen, there would be a full QWERTY keyboard that would favor the perfect writing of texts and in a faster way than in a virtual keyboard.
Meanwhile, behind this physical keyboard there would be another sliding part that would show the controls in charge of allowing the user to control video games more easily than with virtual controls. In addition, to all this we must add that Sony - without Ericsson involved - has a great experience in the game consoles section. Some examples would be the PS3 or the PS Vita, the latest laptop from the Japanese manufacturer that also has a 3G connection.
On the other hand, the development kit for the new PS Vita has been released to the developers of the platform; Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY is also among the terminals compatible with the new games. Therefore, it is not unreasonable for the manufacturer to continue betting on this type of equipment and release its PlayStation platform in its entire mobile catalog: equipment that could be both smartphones and touch tablets.
Another aspect that Sony should improve is the power of this possible launch. For example, Samsung is already covering the sector with screens that reach 4.3 or 5.3 inches, in addition to joining the new Samsung Galaxy S3 on May 3, which, according to comments, could have a screen of 4, 8 inches. Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY has a four-inch screen.
On the other hand, its processor would be another issue to consider. Currently there are processors on the market that already have four cores, while the Sony Ericsson model was launched on the market with a single-core processor with a working frequency of one GHz. In short, features that could be increased in the possible successor, although as always, these patents do not mean that Sony is working on a new model. What's more, the manufacturer has not confirmed anything at the moment.
