Although in recent weeks had appeared related to alleged problems in the mobile division of Sony rumors, the Japanese company Sony has removed any trace of doubt about his future in the market of mobile telephony in Spain providing its results in the Spanish market in 2014. In total, Sony sold 2.3 million smartphones in Spain during the past year 2014, which leads it to reinforce its second position within the top of the telephone companies with the most sales in the country.
The report that Sony has distributed makes mention of the results of last year 2014, and speaks of an increase of 17% in sales compared to the previous year 2013. Sony assures that its commitment to the Android operating system has been one of the keys to this growth, since in national territory the operating system of the American company Google occupies an 89.7% share in the mobile phone market.
Sony's success in the mobile phone market has its own name and surname. During 2014, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, Sony Xperia Z2, Sony Xperia Z3 and Sony Xperia Z3 Compact arrived on the market -in order of launch-, thus continuing with the usual strategy of this company of launching a flagship practically every six months.
Now, on the other hand, not all is good news at Sony. Although in the domestic market the mobile phone business is going from strength to strength for the Japanese brand, in the rest of the world things do not seem to be developing in the same way. Sony has already confirmed, according to different reports from around the world, its intention to cut 2,100 jobs within the mobile division. As positive as the data obtained in Spain may be, the foreseeable losses of 1,265 million euros in Sony do not help to stop these cuts.
On the other hand, when it comes to Sony's future plans within its mobile division, the launch expected in the next few months is mainly aimed at a new flagship: the Sony Xperia Z4. This smartphone has starred in multiple leaks that have exposed its characteristics, but the most recent rumors point in a completely different direction, at least as regards its presentation date.
Many sources agree that the Sony Xperia Z4 could be presented after the MWC 2015 technological event that will take place in March, although since at the moment there is no official confirmation in this regard, we will have to wait until the celebration of this event to find out if Sony decides to break with its strategy of introducing new flagships every six months.
