It seems that manufacturers are getting the hang of it when it comes to software support. A little over a month ago, after the official launch of Android 9 Pie by Google, there were many brands that announced the compatibility of their different models. One of the first was Sony. In fact it was the first to present a mobile to the market with this version; specifically, the Sony Xperia XZ3. Now the company is back in the news after the official announcement of another seven Sony phones that will be updated to Android 9. Let's remember that at the beginning of August some models were already announced. On this occasion the company adds several more models and finally gives a date for all of these.
These are the Sony phones that will update to Android 9 Pie
If Sony boasts of something in smartphones, it is to have one of the best software supports in the entire Android landscape. At the beginning of August the manufacturer already announced several models that would update to the latest Android version presented. Some of these models were the Sony XZ2 Premium or the XZ2. From the blog of the brand now they announce more models compatible with Android Pie.
We leave you below with the list of new Sony phones that will update to Android 9:
- Xperia XZ Premium - October 26, 2018
- Xperia XZ1 - October 26, 2018
- Xperia XZ1 Compact - October 26, 2018
- Xperia XZ2 Premium - November 7, 2018
- Xperia XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus - March 4, 2018
As for the rest of Sony models, it is most likely that they will not receive the update to the new Google cake. Regarding the models on the list, the update package will begin to launch from the estimated dates via OTA (Over The Air). However, as often happens with updates in the Android world, it is expected that they will take a few days or weeks, mainly due to the diversity of models, regions and companies.
Be that as it may, all these models will update to Android Pie, so we just have to wait for Sony to launch the official update. We recommend you check the updates in the Software updates section in the Android settings.
