For some time now, many users have been reporting problems with Xiaomi Bluetooth in various forums and specialized pages. Apparently, the Chinese company's mobiles are unable to connect to Bluetooth headphones, wireless speakers and other sound equipment without cables. Many others claim that this problem is replicated in vehicles when using Android Auto or the car's Bluetooth, either because it does not detect the connection or does not connect.
Before assuming that it is a problem related to the phone's hardware, it is essential to follow a series of methods to solve the Bluetooth problems in Xiaomi, methods of which we will talk next.
The steps that we will see below are compatible with all mobile phones of the Chinese firm. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5, Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 8T, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Mi A1, A2, A3, A2 Lite, Mi 8, Mi 9, Mi 9T, Mi 9T Pro, Redmi 5, Redmi 6, Redmi 7, Pocophone F1…
Delete and add the Bluetooth device again
Sometimes connection problems can be fixed by removing the device and adding it back to Android. We just have to click on the device in question and select the option to Unlink or Unpair.
Before proceeding with the pairing we will have to make sure that both devices are visible to external devices. Then we will reconnect the device attaching the pairing code to confirm the operation.
Use another mobile or try other devices
Are you sure that the problem is derived from the mobile and not from another device? To corroborate this, we can choose two ways: either connect to the device in question through another mobile phone or connect with the mobile to other Bluetooth devices.
With this, we will be able to kill two birds with one stone by testing the Bluetooth connection of both the Xiaomi mobile and the Bluetooth device to which we want to connect. In the event that any of the devices presents a problem when connecting to other elements, we can draw a conclusion or use one of the methods that we will describe below.
Install the Bluetooth Pair app
As the name itself suggests, Bluetooth Pair is an application that tries to link any Bluetooth device independently of the native Android management.
The operation of the application does not have much mystery. Once we have installed the tool on the mobile, we will provide the corresponding Bluetooth permissions. Next, we will click on the Bluetooth device that we want to synchronize and select Pair.
The device will automatically pair on our phone. Finally we will click on Connect to connect, now, the Bluetooth device to MIUI.
Use developer settings
Another option that the users themselves have provided is based on resorting to what are known as Development Settings. To activate the aforementioned settings we will have to go to the MIUI Settings application, and more specifically to My device.
Then we will press several times on MIUI Version until a message similar to "Development settings have been activated" appears. In old versions of MIUI 9 and MIUI 10 we can resort to the Build numbers section.
With this option we will be able to see the Bluetooth devices with no name or with exposed MAC addresses (91: 75: 1a: ec: 9a: c7, for example).
With everything ready, the last step is to go precisely to the Development Settings, which are accessible from the Additional Settings section. Once we are within the aforementioned settings we will find the option Show Bluetooth devices without a name and finally we will activate it.
Reset Bluetooth settings
Cutting to the bone is sometimes the best solution, and what better way to do this than to reset the Bluetooth settings to eliminate any possible MIUI failure that is causing Bluetooth problems in Xiaomi.
To do this, just go to the More section in Settings. Next we will go to the option to Reset Wi-Fi, mobile network and Bluetooth and finally to the option to Recover settings.
When the cleaning is finished, we will have to add all the Bluetooth devices again, as well as the WiFi networks and stored mobile networks.
Update MIUI to the latest version
During the past year, the case of the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and the Bluetooth problems derived from an update with bugs was very popular. Therefore, it is best to update the phone to the latest version of MIUI available, be it MIUI 10 or MIUI 11.
We can do this by clicking on My device and then on System updates. If the phone does not detect any application, we can always resort to the Downmi application, which downloads the packages from Xiaomi servers.
Reset the system completely
In the unlikely event that none of the above works, the only workable solution is to reset the phone. Before proceeding with the format of the phone, it is advisable to make a backup copy of all the data that we want to preserve because we will lose all the information from the terminal along the way.
To restore a Chinese brand mobile phone, just click on My device in Settings and then on Backup and reset. Within this section we will select the option to Delete all data and finally All files on the phone.
If we have versions prior to MIUI 10 we can find this configuration in the address Additional settings / Backup and restart / Delete all data.
