Siri is the lifeblood of the iPhone 4S. A unique feature that symbolizes Apple's taste in keeping content to fit; the hardware has no sense without the software . Siri is, broadly speaking, a voice control system for Apple functions. And something else.
It is a sort of personal assistant that turns the iPhone 4S into a wildcard. Interestingly, Siri turns the concept behind the iPhone. Although the first iPhone had one of its great attractions (perhaps the most) in touching the screen, with Siri Apple invites us not to touch it.
The Siri engine is run by Nuance, the company responsible for Dragon Dictation, the most popular and acclaimed voice control program on the market (and which has a free version for iPad, as we discussed a few weeks ago).
Thanks to this system, we could carry out common actions, such as dictating texts for emails and SMS messages, launching applications, programming traffic routes or activating the hands-free in the car. But Siri promises to go further, providing added value over other similar applications.
In the video that Apple has published to introduce Siri on the iPhone 4S, it is about showing that Siri's functions are closer to the assistant's philosophy than to those of the simple dictation engine. It is true that this function, that of reproducing texts from spoken expositions, is present in Siri. But the intention of this system is broader.
Thus, the application interprets commands that seem like they could be exposed through various formulas. It is interesting to see that an order as non-standard as starting a countdown to cook a delicious dessert can be recognized as if Siri were participating in a conversation.

Obviously, Siri must be subjected to a thorough test to see how well it recognizes voice commands and under what conditions. Although for this you will have to speak the language of Shakespeare… or that of Zola, or that of Hesse, since Siri only understands English, French or German. At least Apple announces that at the launch of the iPhone 4S these will be the only languages supported by the system.
Herein lies Siri's most glaring mistake. Although they promise that it will be updated to work with more languages, the fact that it is not launched recognizing Spanish or Chinese (the two most widely spoken languages on the planet) has been surprisingly clumsy, eliminating hundreds of millions of possible users of your customer map.
