Xiaomi has announced in its official forum that users of Redmi devices will no longer be able to test beta versions of MIUI. This affects low-end models, but also Xiaomi devices that are more than a year old. In this way, smartphones such as the Xiaomi Mi A2 or Mi A2 Lite, which are already almost 12 months old, will not be able to benefit from the MIUI beta program. Also, other terminals such as the recently announced Redmi 7A, will not be able to benefit from the beta as it is an entry range.
One of the main attractions of Xiaomi equipment is that they can install the beta versions of their customization layer very easily. The beta program allows you to test the new features and all the changes that are coming to MIUI, before they land in the stable version officially. However, Xiaomi's official statement leaves quite a few models orphans, who will have no choice but to wait for the final version of MIUI from now on to be able to test it.
According to the company itself, this change is driven by the demands of its significant growth. And it is that, as Xiaomi is expanding around the world, the manufacturer has been focusing on seeking greater stability of MIUI. Needless to say, this change only affects beta versions, not official ones. That is, the Xiaomi Redmi entry models and Xiaomi phones that have already been on the market for more than a year will be able to install without problems all the official versions of MIUI that come out from now on.
As for Android, more of the same, the support will remain the same and all Xiaomi mobile users will receive updates as usual for some time. A clear example of this we have in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro and Redmi Note 5, which received Android 9.0 Pie just a few days ago.
