The trend of this 2019 comes from the hand of folding phones. To date, the only flexible mobile phones presented are the Samsung Galaxy Fold and the Huawei Mate X. Both terminals are based on the same concept: folding screen based on the vertical of the device. Now it is Sharp that patents a new flexible telephone whose peculiarity lies in the position of the fold, as well as the number of hinges to fold the mobile. The design of the device would come to directly rival the Motorola RAZR that the brand is supposed to present in the coming months.
This would be the flexible mobile from Sharp
It seems that the future of mobile telephony is going to arrive with folding mobiles. In addition to Samsung and Huawei, brands such as Alcatel or Energizer are going to present their respective models with a flexible screen throughout 2020. The latest to join this trend is Sharp, who a few minutes ago registered several patents related to a folding mobile with two hinges and a vertical screen format.
As we can see in the images published by Sharp itself, the terminal would have a design very similar to the Motorola RAZR. The difference with respect to this is that Sharp's mobile would have two hinges. This would allow us to fold the mobile into two different formats, one with the screen fully folded and the other with a slight burr. The latter could be intended to show notifications and the image captured by the rear camera, since as can be seen in the patents registered by Sharp, it will not have a front camera.
As for the rest of the details of the device, you can see an all-screen design and lines that remind us of practically any current high-end. The rear does not hold any great surprises or eccentricities, probably because it is a patent for a prototype model. It remains to be seen how the company solves the integration of a separate battery in two modules without sacrificing its final capacity.
Either way, it is likely that the terminal will end up being discarded as a final product as it is a patent. However, it is interesting to see how one of the leading screen manufacturers ponders these types of designs. Recall that Sharp was the first manufacturer to present an all-screen mobile, the Sharp Aquos S1. For this reason, it would not be ruled out for him to launch a mobile with similar characteristics. We will have to wait for the next few months to see if the device comes to fruition.
