1 - Picture-in-Picture

Picture in Picture (or PIP) is one of the most important novelties, it comes along with new features that Google has implemented in its operating system, in order to improve productivity. The function consists of applying pop-up windows of the applications. In this way, the user will be able to browse other applications with a small window in sight. We have already seen this function in some Android devices, but Google has not implemented it as standard until now.

2 - Vitals

Vitals is a new Android O service, it makes our system faster, optimizing performance, battery use and storage. This new feature includes Google Play protect, an option that analyzes all the applications in the Google Play Store to find out which ones are malicious and which ones are not.

3 - Notifications Dots

This new option will allow us to see notifications without having to access the notification panel. Now, we can see if we have notifications in the application itself, with a kind of balloon on the app icon. Also, if we want to see the notification in detail, we can press and hold on the icon, and it will be shown in detail. Many of Google's applications will incorporate it and hopefully developers will also incorporate it into their applications.

4 - Smart text selection

Android 7 Nougat already has a similar option, if we select on the text we can carry out several actions, such as translating the word or phrase, searching for it in google, copying or pasting it. In this case, the improvement goes a bit further. With the predictive text selection, the system will intelligently select the word or phrase that we want to select. That is, if we select a letter from a word, the entire word will automatically be selected. In addition, they include predictive text. That is, if we select an address, the option to open in Google Maps will appear.

5- Google autocomplete

The autocomplete function is already applied in the Google browser, but until now it had not been brought to the applications. Now we can automatically fill in important data, such as our postal address, telephone number, etc. Just like Google does with Chrome. And not only that, also, developers will be able to apply this feature in their applications and services. In this way, we save more time in adding all the data such as email etc. It is a very useful function when we want to do, for example, a purchase process.

6 - New emojis

Finally, Android 8 incorporates new emojis that we had not seen in Android 7.0 Nougat. Some of them are, for example, the zombie face, or a camera ordering silence etc. But without a doubt, the most important thing is that now, emojis have a redesign. Now they are more rounded and more similar to WhatsApp emojis. This has been one of the best advances that Google has made in the new version of Android.
