Just a few weeks after meeting the Galaxy Fold, Samsung's first folding mobile, rumors have emerged about new models. Apparently, the company would not be working on one, but two different folding smartphones that it could unveil next year. An uncovered patent from Samsung Display, filed on September 21, 2018 with the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), describes a smartphone with a folding cover.
Interestingly, it would adopt the design of the Huawei Mate X, with a single panel that opens to become a tablet, folding out to be a smartphone. Instead of having two screens, one inside and one outside, like the current Galaxy Fold. As described in the following illustration, the device appears to be quite compact. The foldable design principle would expose the screen to scratches and other types of damage, but at the same time, it would offer additional features to improve the user experience.
At the moment there is not much more data, but surely we will know more over the next few months if Samsung takes the project seriously. Patents, in general, do not necessarily mean that we see a commercially available product. However, we think that the Galaxy Fold is just the beginning of more devices of this type. The terminal was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and will land on the market on April 26 at a price of almost $ 2,000.
At the feature level, it consists of two screens. A 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED main with QXGA resolution and 4.2: 3 format. The one on the cover (Super AMOLED) has a size of 4.6 inches and HD + resolution. The Galaxy Fold comes powered by an eight-core processor, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Its photographic section is composed of a triple sensor of 16 + 12+ 12 megapixels. There is no lack of a 4,380 mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging, or Android 9 Pie operating system along with the company's Samsung ONE UI customization layer.
