Samsung users are waiting for the company to start rolling out Android 8 on some of its models. Specifically, testing of this version recently began for the Samsung Galaxy S8, the company's current flagship. But what about the others? A new Weibo leak has revealed the final list of mobiles that will have Oreo in the coming months.
The name of the devices appears in the list, although no dates are given. That is, we still cannot know for sure the exact moment when Android 8 will be available on these terminals. In any case, approximate dates can be given. If you look at the image below, the Samsung Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 Edge + will receive the update. Of course, it is likely that Oreo is the last major version of Android for these teams. Which landed on the market with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Android 8 for the high-end Galaxy
About a month ago, Samsung started the Android 8 beta program for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 +. It was in the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Korea. The beta of the second firmware was released about two weeks ago. There is a possibility that both phablets will receive the Oreo update in early 2018. As you can see from the same list, the Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy Note 7 and Galaxy Note 5 will also receive the latest version of the platform. The same will happen for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 +, the company's flagship phones from last year.
Android 8 for Samsung's mid-range
The leaked image reveals that the 2015 versions of the Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 would not receive the Android Oreo update. The new version would only reach the most recent models. The 2017 and 2018 versions. Therefore, Android 8 would be available in the Samsung Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 (2017) and in the next Galaxy A3, A5 and A7 (2018). These latest models have not yet been announced and we do not know if they would land directly with this new version of the system. For the rest, as we say, no dates are shown. Although it is very likely that the update will begin to roll out throughout the first quarter of next year.
As far as the Galaxy On series is concerned, only the Galaxy On Max version is expected to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update. The South Korean company also seems to be interested in launching Oreo in a large number of tablets. According to this list, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3, S2, Tab A (2017), Tab A (2016) and Tab Active 2 would receive Oreo when the time comes. That is, throughout next 2018. As for the rest of Samsung phones for the mid-range, those that comprise the Galaxy J and Galaxy C families, the following models would be updated:
- Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016)
- Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy J +
- Samsung Galaxy J7max
- Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime
- Samsung Galaxy J7 Core
- Samsung Galaxy C10
- Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy C7 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy C5 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy C7
Samsung has always worked hard to ensure that the vast majority of its devices have the latest versions of the platform. It is true that some are beginning to not be able to be updated and are lagging behind. But if we look at this list, we will see that the company intends to update a large number of models. Both those corresponding to the mid-range and the higher ranges.
