A few days ago we knew that the Japanese company Sony was working on a new update for the Sony Xperia Z, ZL and ZR worldwide. On this occasion, thanks to a screenshot leaked online, we have been able to confirm that the update for the Sony Xperia Z brings with it the latest version of the Android operating system, Android 4.4.4 KitKat. This update responds to the name of 10.5.1.A.0.283, and is expected to begin to be distributed worldwide from the next few days.
The new features of Android 4.4.4 KitKat compared to Android 4.4.2 KitKat (the version under which the Xperia Z works after receiving an update a few months ago) are reduced to internal improvements. This means that this new update will not imply any important change in the interface, but that all the news will be focused on small security improvements that Google had to introduce in Android after several failures were detected that affected the protection of users. On the other hand, probably Sony will also take advantage of this update to introduce somebug fixes that offer to holders of the Sony Xperia Z one better performance and greater autonomy.
As for the updates of the Sony Xperia ZL and Sony Xperia ZR, presumably both will also receive the same Android 4.4.4 KitKat update as the one confirmed for the Sony Xperia Z, and even more so considering that the certification of this update referred to both terminals. It is also expected that this same update will also end up reaching the Sony Xperia Z Tablet in the coming days.
Leaving aside these three phones, today the smartphone that is generating the most expectation regarding its operating system updates is the Sony Xperia SP. This mobile works today under the version of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, and Sony engineers seem to have been working for months on the possibility of updating it to one of the most recent versions of Android, Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Along the way, mobile phones such as the Sony Xperia T, the Sony Xperia TX and the Sony Xperia V have already fallen from the list, while the Sony Xperia SP for now continues to appear on the website ofSony with the message of " Under investigation ", which confirms that there is still the possibility of receiving a new operating system update.
The only thing left for the moment is to wait for the Sony Xperia Z update to begin to be distributed, while Sony Xperia SP owners must arm themselves with patience and wait for some certification related to this mobile to appear. Recall that the first to receive the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update will be the owners of a Sony Xperia Z in its free version, while users who have purchased it through an operator will have to wait some additional time to receive the same update.
