The Android 9 Pie update for Samsung mobiles is taking more and more shape. The Note 9 was updated precisely last week through the company's Beta program. The protagonists of the news this time are the Samsung Galaxy A which, according to the well-known Sammobile website, are already testing the latest from Android. We refer to models such as the Samsung Galaxy A7, A8, A6, A6 + and even the Galaxy A5, smartphones, in short, launched during 2018 and 2017.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 could be the first to update to Android 9 Pie
January is the month that the Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 Plus and Note will update to the last slice of the Android pie. This was confirmed by the South Korean company in the presentation of One UI, Samsung's new customization layer. Little was known about the rest of smartphones until now.
This same weekend, what seems like a benchmark of the Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 with Android 9 Pie as the base system has been leaked. This not only gives us some clues about the development phase of Android 9 in which the aforementioned terminal is, but also about the rest of the brand's Galaxy A phones. According to the Sammobile website, Samsung could be developing Android 9.0 ROMs for some of its mid-range models. This statement would be based on both the previous benchmark and the current rate of updates of the company in its A series smartphones, which have monthly security updates.
No further details have been given about the possible release date or which smartphone will be compatible with this version. Taking into account that it is in January when it will be presented in the company's high-end, it is expected that it will be in March or April when Android Pie arrives on new devices. The first phones to update could be the following:
- Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 +
- Samsung Galaxy A7 2018
- Samsung Galaxy A8 and A8s 2018
- Samsung Galaxy A9
As for the rest of the models like the Galaxy A3 or A5, it is not known if it will finally arrive. Our prediction is that Android Oreo 8.1 will be the last version that these will receive, although it is still too early to give these assumptions as true. Be that as it may, let's hope that Samsung will present an official update calendar to know both the models compatible with Android 9 and the date of the update.
